tcbnurse77 Posted January 2 #1 Share Posted January 2 Hello, We are planning a trip for our 20 year anniversary to Hawaii in 2025. We are trying to decide between the specific ships Celebrity Solstice vs Celebrity Edge. The things that are most important to us are comfortable soft beds, great food (food that’s included- not just at specialty restaurants- though we will possibly try some of those too), and lots of fun entertainment (we love comedy shows and theater shows). We’ve recently discovered also that we enjoy having a scheduled dining time so that we can get to know our wait staff. It’s seems much more personable and elevates the dining experience for us. We really missed that when we just sailed with NCL. Also trying to decide between May and September. Any personal experience or advice would be appreciated. Personally I would choose an itinerary that provides the maximum amount of time on the islands. The important things you list-- bed quality, food, and entertainment are going to be virtually identical on two ships owned by the same company. Edge is a bit newer but Solstice has been regularly updated. Unless you really, really enjoy sea days cruising to/from Hawaii isn't a really great way to see the islands. You spend much more time aboard ship than you do in Hawaii. Would a land based vacation be off the table? 12 hours ago, tcbnurse77 said: Also trying to decide between May and September. May is at the very, very end of whale season so that might tip me more towards May than September so you might at least have an outside chance of seeing whales while you're there. Otherwise it wont make a huge difference weather wise between May and September.
CruiserBruce Posted January 2 #3 Share Posted January 2 Very slender chance of seeing whales in May. Very slender. September weather is typically warmer and more humid, but not by a lot. I see you have already posted on the Celebrity board asking about the differences in the ships. That is where all the Celebrity experts live.
