Schnauzergirl9 Posted January 3 #1 Share Posted January 3 Has anyone ever used the travel insurance Detour Travel Insurance? Found it offered Square Mouth. Thank you!
MisterBill99 Posted January 3 #2 Share Posted January 3 FYI, it appears that they are owned by Nationwide. The company answering questions here does not sell them, so I would not expect them to give you an answer. Here is a description of their focus from their website. Detour is founded and operated by adventurers who live the lifestyle and understand the rewards and risks associated with experiential travel. Golfgirl8350 Posted February 1 #4 Share Posted February 1 I'm looking at Detour, too. A third of the cost for other travel insurance. To be clear, it is Underwritten by Nationwide, not owned by Nationwide. But that's not a bad thing. If anyone has had Detour and filed a claim, I'd sure like to hear about it. heatherwillis Posted February 6 #5 Share Posted February 6 I haven't had the chance to use Detour Travel Insurance myself, but it's great that you found it offered through Square Mouth. Exploring different travel insurance options is a smart move to ensure you get the coverage that suits your needs best.

While you're at it, I'd also recommend taking a look at what Sagicor has to offer in terms of travel insurance. They have a reputation for providing comprehensive insurance services, and it's always good to compare different providers to make an informed decision. Travel insurance can be a real lifesaver in unexpected situations during your trips, so it's worth investing some time in finding the right one for you. Would you please post again when you have completed the claim with Detour and let us know how it went. That would be amazing.
jazznruby Posted May 27 #9 Share Posted May 27 I purchased a Detour policy through Squaremouth for a cruise in February of this year. Had to file a claim because my husband made a trip to the medical center. Total cost of said trip was almost $3500. Initially, the claim was denied due to a clerical error on the part of Detour. With the help of the Squaremouth team, the issue was resolved and the claim paid in a timely manner. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Squaremouth is no longer brokering Detour, which means that in future, should there be an issue, one would be dealing directly with Detour, potentially making it more difficult for resolution. That said, I just purchased the same Detour policy as before for an upcoming cruise in November of this year. You just can't beat the price relative to other ridiculously priced policies...for almost the same, and in some cases, better coverage. The main limitation is the total trip cost maxes out at $20,000 but I can live with that, even if total trip cost exceeds that by a bit. Bottom line, Detour is underwritten by Nationwide, gets an A+ rating, and I recommend it and will continue to purchase from them for future trips.
