Since we now must use our medallion for slot play, how does a slot tournament work? Can people still put in their own $15 & play/ I need help from someone who has recently done a Princess slot tournament

We are playing in the actual slot tournament:

certain machines are set aside for the players to use.  Your name is in their computer, and you are assigned a time and machine to play.  You do not insert your medallion or money.  When you play you are hitting the start button as fast as you can and the screen will spin and your points will show.  Some tournaments the screen will have stars, ballons or bubbles that you hit to get extra points.  If you are in first place among the players you are playing against a large #1 will come on the screen to let you know that you are in first place, but that will disappear quickly because the points change every second.

Some tournaments are one round, two rounds or more.  We have been in where it is the highest points out of all the players is the winner.  Other tournaments, you eliminate 100 players and you start over with a new round, until you get down to 8 or 10 players.

Can you sign up onboard to play or are the tournaments pre-arranged?

Yes, you will be able to sign up on board and there is an ‘entry’ fee. The event should be listed in the patter/event listing and you can ask the casino host if one will be scheduled for your sailing. The casino usually has a list of the various ‘events’ they will be hosting such as poker tournaments and such.

Some sailings will have ‘private’ tournaments for people invited by the casino. There will most likely be ‘qualifying’ rounds which determine the high scorers who will ultimately play in the final round where that top score will be awarded the ‘prize’, which in the past was $500.

Go to the casino when it opens after sailaway. The fee is usually $25 or $30. They will take your name, give you a little card to hand in and tell you the first day at sea and time that the tournament will be held. Come a little early. There will be multiple rounds. In the old days everyone that made it into the final round got a tee shirt or cap. No more, now there is one winner that takes the pot. It’s still fun.
