Rare DandDM Posted February 14 Author #226 Share Posted February 14 We are headed to St Thomas and clocks moved forward an hour last night. So when I woke up at 8am, it was 9 ship time. And I was sore! I think the long run catching up with me. Decided not to run this morning (afternoon run a possibility…maybe), so turned the TV on and laid back down - ended up sleeping for another hour. Dreamt that I was at a bar in port with the guy I was talking to last night in Vintages, and a friend of mine that he reminded me of was also there. When I was getting ready to leave, realized I’d missed the ship. anyway, lazy morning then to CK for lunch. Scallop ceviche, not what I expected but good. Spinach salad. This was my favorite salad so far. And a very well seasoned swordfish. Full now and may go lay out for a bit and maybe take another nap!
Rare DandDM Posted February 14 Author #227 Share Posted February 14 A fancy valentine’s cake outside of Windjammer! But someone ate half a piece then left the rest in front of my door…how rude! Beautiful sea today. I love that deep blue!
Rare DandDM Posted February 14 Author #228 Share Posted February 14 (edited) Went to the suite deck, will post some photos below. Have had a chance to stretch and work on sore muscles and feeling better. But an old pain that I sometimes get in my upper left thigh is flaring up, so will definitely take today off to rest that. Have a run planned in St Thomas for tomorrow. Entrance from deck 16 Bar area (Symphony has a hot tub here, but not on oasis). front area facing pool deck. back side with four cabana (first come first serve) overlooking Solarium and stern of ship. Starboard side. Very pleasant out with nice breeze. Current situation: Edited February 14 by DandDM Typo
KEG21552 Posted February 14 #229 Share Posted February 14 If you want a great run and cruise, I suggest the Miami half marathon- I think it is sometime in April. Have done it twice and it is great. Run along South Beach as the sun is coming up and then over the causeway looking at the ships in port knowing that in a few short hours, you will be on one in recovery mode. Started running in my 50s- ran 2 marathons in one day- my first and last! (New York in 2004). Have done 3-4 half and many 10k and 5k. At 72, not so much anymore though I try to run 2.5-3 miles 3 or 4 times a week. Keep at it and respect the rest days! Any run you finish on your feet is a good run, regardless of time. Sorry for the derail - now back to cruising and relaxing

Rare DandDM Posted February 15 Author #233 Share Posted February 15 (edited) Dinner tonight. Started with Sugar Snap Pea salad. While the salad was lite on the peas, I appreciated that it was also light on dressing. Crab cakes next. The crust on this was more of a crumble that kept it from being too oily. Sauce was great and slightly spicy. Main course of Roasted Lamb Loin. Had this last week on my drunk night and thought I enjoyed it. But not tonight…the meat was tough (lamb?) and flavor, including sauce, was uninspired. I only ate a bit of this. after that disappointment, ordered Cheese cake with caramel for dessert which was amazing as usual!! Now at the show, missed this one last week. Rare DandDM Posted February 15 Author #234 Share Posted February 15 I really liked the show. Usually not a huge fan of the production shows, but found this one enjoyable. Only took a few photos.

Rare DandDM Posted February 15 Author #236 Share Posted February 15 Tried to edit last post and was too slow… Checked in on the party. Maybe 20-30 people there, mostly couples. Probably early, but not much of a party yet. DJ was doing his thing so I bet it will get hopping soon. Didn’t stick around so I make it on a run tomorrow. Cheers,
Rare DandDM Posted February 15 Author #237 Share Posted February 15 St Thomas run is in books! Of course, my balcony was facing away from the port and didn’t think about the view. But as soon as I got off the ship, realized this wasn’t right, town wasn't what I remembered and no tram up the mountain. Checked my phone and realized we docked at a different port than I expected and the trail I’d planned to run was about a mile and a half away. worked my way out of the port to the main road and started to run, not sure what to expect. Sidewalk was ok and after about a mile, made it the water front trail. Soon could see the other cruise dock with three ships in port. made it to town and took some photos. The line for the tram was long! Turned around at 2.6 miles On the way back could see the Oasis through the hills, so far away! For the first half of the run, sun was in my face and slight breeze at my back. It was soooo hot!! Started to struggle after a couple miles so found excuses to slow down, walk, and check out the scenery. The way back was a little better with the sun behind me and a slight breeze in my face, but was completely spent after four miles. The last mile or so was mostly walking with short runs. Was so hot when I got back to the port, stopped at first shop I saw and bought a cold bottle of water. ignore the time, I’m glad I got this done without injury!
Rare DandDM Posted February 15 Author #238 Share Posted February 15 (edited) After I cooled down and cleaned up, wanted to give the scale another try. Weigh in was four pounds less than the other day, one pound more than pre cruise. And this was after I’d drank probably half a gallon of water! No idea what was going on the other day, feel much better about this! As I was down stairs already, saw Park Cafe so gave them a try. Had a big salad and a warmed up Cubano sandwich. They were fine, but it took a long time to get, with a worker making my salad. Walked around and got a couple photos of the port and other ships. Enjoyed sail away from my balcony. Rare DandDM Posted February 16 Author #239 Share Posted February 16 (edited) Dinner. On the recommendation of another cruiser, started with tuna tartar. The fish really popped with flavor. As I wasn’t sure if I’d like the tartar, also ordered a mozzarella and tomato saled. This was solid. For main course, short rib. While I’ve been complaining a bit about red meat, I loved this, could have eating the ribs with a spoon. Finally, Ricotta cheese cake at waiters recommendation. This was a little different with the red cake bottom and lack of crust. Enjoyed and was hard not to finish. Now waiting for Aqua80 show to start. Please refer to earlier post from last time I was hear for photos. 😎 Edited February 16 by DandDM
Rare DandDM Posted February 16 Author #240 Share Posted February 16 Went straight from the Aqua show to comedy. Both comedians were funny, although I had heard one of them before. Quest is tonight. Haven’t decided if I’ll attend, thinking I may stop in. Again seeing odd activities … isn’t a Hyperlink the thing in a web page that sends you to another web page? My age might be showing. Rare DandDM Posted February 16 Author #241 Share Posted February 16 (edited) I only lasted 15 minutes at the quest. Undecided if I’m just tired of it, or if not as funny anymore. Used to love it! Noticed this one had more audience participation such as sing alongs. Did not appear teams were pre-prepared as most teams were not successful in a few of the early quests. I gave attending a shot… Edited February 16 by DandDM

Rare DandDM Posted February 16 Author #244 Share Posted February 16 10k for tenth run! Quite pleased to have this one in the books. Ship is moving a bit today and run started unsteady as I couldn’t get a stride going (because of ship movement). However, my body eventually got used to it, and this may sound weird, but laps 11 thru 15 felt so much better than laps 1 thru 5…. Somehow finished a full minute faster than the other day which really surprised me as I felt slower (especially at the beginning). I stated at the beginning that my goal was 10 runs. At that time really didn’t know how things would work out. Now I’m thinking I potentially have two more in me as I’ll be in Miami post cruise and looking forward to running there again. As a reward, going to have lunch then a Champagne tasting at Vintages. Cheers,

I too will take the elevator as a reward when necessary, no shame 😉 Glad you liked the Aqua Show, I've been on Harmony and Allure and it is my favorite piece of entertainment and I think the athleticism of the performers is very motivating! lol omg same, never do the elevator unless late at night and no one using them, but healthy guy, peloton 12-15 km every other day, walk at golf etc get on the cruise and do stairs, and im like what the hell!? lol I swear has to do with the ship in buoyancy state?? 🤣

Rare DandDM Posted February 16 Author #249 Share Posted February 16 I’m becoming a creature of habit at lunch. Was actually really looking forward to the salmon and this was the first time I’ve been disappointed. Undercooked and lacking some of the flavor. Maybe because it is getting to the end of the cruise so the fish is older? Other dishes are tomato soup and beat salad. they have a couple flat bread options on the menu which are basically small pizzas. If I go tomorrow, will try that.
