New "Voyager" class? That makes zero sense. Did you mis-type or did they mis-speak?

Oasis, could be talking about Utopia or even a 7th (maybe?)

Icon - They could be referring to yet unnamed Icon 3.

Project discovery? It would have to be closer to the Voyager size,

There has been talk/ rumors about building another smaller ship. I had heard about it about a month or so ago.

This is so interesting, I had no idea such a big ship wouldn't be able to get herself away from the dock!

That's specifically the problem. She's so big she's the world's biggest sail.  Have heard a captain say something along these lines.

Correct. That's Project Discovery. I think it's been floating around for a couple years. Michael Bayley recently said if they get everything lined up they'll make an official announcement sometime this year.

I guess I have to take back my comment. Just met with the loyalty ambassador and he said i was incorrect. I’m really confused because my reaction was that I misheard so asked for clarification and he denied talking about the new builds at all. Very confused, and this was before the wine tasting!

was anyone else there?

We are sailing at the edge of the world!  This was from a while ago, but based on the speed, does not appear the captain is worried about time as he could make a couple more knots (or nudos as the screen says) if needed. Also attaching today’s activities.

Super Bowl - learned that a.reserved seat at Playmakers is $70 and includes specific food. Game will also be on in other venues, first come, first serve style. Have not made any decisions yet.

Update on last post:

Super Bowl - learned that a seat at Playmakers is $70 and includes specific food. Game will also be on in other venues, first come, first serve.

Signed up for bogo dinner at Giovanni’s for next week and tried to use second at Izumi, but learned that it can’t be used at the hibachi.

Concierge talked me into Izumi hibachi at full price and then booked chops for second Bogo. In case news to anyone, solo can do two specialty at half price vs second guest free with diamond plus benefit.

Just learned that playmakers is not reserved, just a set menu and price for anyone that shows up. Have more to figure out about Super Bowl!

We were there. I think it was the Hotel  Director who talked about new ships. Definitely heard someone state that they will be building a smaller ship, Voyager-class size.

Thank you! I thought I was going absolutely crazy!  I do know it’s happening in small bits…

Ship run today!  Turned into a good one. Historically, I’ve had trouble with pacing on a ship, so ran my phone stopwatch while running and did the math on lap distance before starting. Even with that, started to struggle on lap four or five…slogged through that and felt better as I kept going. I think the motion of ship, even though slight, adds unexpected stress to my body.

did ten laps, so just over 4 miles at approx 11 min pace. Had a few instances  where people were in the way, but most folks were very accommodating.  So photos while running, apologies for the quality as I didn’t stop to take them 🙂

IMG_7863.jpegOh, yeah: the ‘artistic painter workshop’ sign.  That is on a door facing the outside of the ship, by the life boats. Can’t be a very big space. Guessing it’s a joke?

Have a friend who ran a marathon on a sea day aboard a cruise ship - if you like to read relatable running stories check out his books by Cory Reese "Nowhere near first". Also thank you for posting the daily schedules as I've been trying to have a heads up on what we'll be wanting to fit in each day in March... praying for no wind! That was wild.

Wow!  I need to check that out. A marathon wouldn’t work, buts it’s bucket list to run a race at a port!

Talked to some folks at dinner who also thought it was the hotel director who talked about this. I will pay more attention next week!

oh, the first day I posted that I lost at monopoly. Looking at machines tonight, it was WOF.

On Oasis in August I hit a large jackpot while docked at Labadee.

See what you can discover about Project Discovery. 😉  Lot's of speculations and hints but very little solid knowledge yet, other than it''' be "smaller" than the current crop of mega-ships & looking to replace the aging Vision & Radiance class of ships. Although it'll have to be bigger than 90,000 ton Radiance if they want to pack in just a few of the newer amenities such as specialty restaurants, karaoke bars, bigger solarium, Star-class suites, etc, even if they skip the roller coasters, water slides, Central Park, etc.

So 130,000 ton Voyager-size sounds about right.

Also, as a solo cruiser, what have you been doing for dining? Going solo or do you meet people and dine with them or just go to MTD and asking to be placed at a table with people?

When we first started cruising we were cruising on Disney. While it’s not a marathon, they used to do a Castaway Cay 5K when they stopped at their private island. I think they used to hand out some sort of medal to those who did it. That was about 12 years or so ago so I have no idea if they’re still doing it. I never tried it myself because I spent my time at Castaway Cay in the water. I’m way more a swimmer than a runner.

Not the OP, but I cruise solo and I am quite happy to sit by myself, thank you. My point in cruising is to chill and relax, and being forced into interaction is not my idea of that. I'll likely just stick with Windjammer on my upcoming Anthem cruise as I couldn't get MTD reservations for my preferred time and don't feel like dealing with a line.

Similar to what Writenonyourheart said - I will get my own table. The tables are usually close enough to engage with others, but don’t feel obligated.

Speaking of meeting people, wheels came off a bit last night as I made new friends at Vintages and drank way too much wine! Feeling poorly this morning and haven’t done anything yet…not sure if I’m going to be able to do the zip line today. And no run this morning, bummed about that!

But you woke up on Oasis of the Seas! What a win that is! Don't be too bummed about missing the run.
