Live and Solo: B2B on Oasis Feb 4 - 18, a Running report

Hideaway is on the windward side of the island and boy was it windy! The staff was securing stuff down when I got there  IMG_7963.thumb.jpeg.4f3b84e2d49347e42986572a6595d982.jpeg

the smart people were in the water! It’s heated and warmer than the ocean today.

Menu for the walk up food place, I had the coconut shrimp which were surprisingly good!  The ‘tarter’ sauce is very sweet, but worked will with the shrimp.

The sun eventually started to poke out, but it was too windy to relax (didn’t bring pool stuff!). May go back later.

edited to add: I posted the wrong area on Coco Cay earlier in my report…I had purchased access to hideaway in the Black Friday sale.

With the sun out, it’s not too bad out of the wind, so settled into a spot on the leeward side of the island. Not very busy for two ships in port, reminds me of the restart days!

Is Marina (spelling) still bartending at the Schooner bar?  She was great.

Have not been there yet so will check it out. Does Marina make a good old fashioned? 😀

Do you mind sharing the Compass?

Will photo when I get back. Surprisingly, have received a paper compass the last two days.

earlier someone asked the captain’s name. A little embarrassed to admit I don’t know….he hasn’t been making announcement nor can I find the photo board of the officers anywhere. I might have to ask 😕

They just announced they are closing the island (technically closing the pier).  Everything and everybody are being brought back on board. Check this video out and let me know if you think the thrusters can get us off the dock!

if you hear the boom, it’s the ship hitting the dock

please confirm who your captain is...Capt Goran or Capt Ante

Capt Goran. He just came on to let us know the weather is getting worse and we’ll be leaving coco cay 3 hrs early. Said there could be some ‘motion in the ocean’ tonight!

I live in Flordia. the wind is between 25-35 today. I can imagine what it is on the open water.

Spent the last 30 minutes watching the ship battle the wind - and lose… both thrusters are going and engines making full steam, but the ship has not budged. No idea what ‘plan b’ might be….

Hard to get perspective as I’m on deck 14, but that post sticks out of the water a good 15 feet, and it’s regularly getting submerged by the waves. Some of these rollers are probably 25 - 30 feet high and hitting us broad side. IMG_7987.thumb.jpeg.7c68589c0a381416a537bec01903f082.jpeg

Still at the dock. The weather has actually gotten worse and the captain has given up with the thrusters. I guess we will wait this out, so I’m gonna take a nap!

looking forward to it getting better!

Tomorrow is coco cay so I think that will be deck 2 again 😞

my current trick is to do three or flights, then cross over to the other side for a few more.

Unfortunately for some of us, it’s the knees that start throwing out the F Bombs after a couple of flights. 😉

Captain Goran announced that the wind direction is shifting and we should be able to leave in a hour or so. Meanwhile, read that the Radiance was stuck in port over night, so sounds like it could be worse!

it’s dark here now so can’t seen the waves, but can still hear the wind whipping and the ship shuddering!

This is so interesting, I had no idea such a big ship wouldn't be able to get herself away from the dock!
