Live and Solo: B2B on Oasis Feb 4 - 18, a Running report

Catching up, enjoyed the ice show last night. Those shows are consistently amping my favorite so glad to have a chance the first night.  Confused on the plot…fairy tale characters skating to 70’s rock???  Had a big head sir in front of me which made it hard to take photos, but I could see the show fine. IMG_7842.thumb.jpeg.a5caa935856bf5af04e0945108d70f62.jpegIMG_7843.thumb.jpeg.8ff7a2ba02714f32c50bf5dbfffea441.jpegIMG_7847.thumb.jpeg.ff606204338d0c49847f009fc53f4b4a.jpegIMG_7848.thumb.jpeg.cb80badae57413714ae65e36af025114.jpegIMG_7854.thumb.jpeg.6cc586fba5fcf1c69972b7a087c28d55.jpegIMG_7856.thumb.jpeg.60825115c380598fbebfe0febc65140c.jpegIMG_7860.thumb.jpeg.764833123632e5e3cb4e53379b7e9359.jpegIMG_7862.thumb.jpeg.85a54c62daa7f842cea78879968ff881.jpeg

This morning, made to run to paradise beach. Researched to map a bit and realized the 3.75 miles went all the way to the end of the island and the bridge was only about a mile away. Decided I didn’t want to miss this chance to run in a new place so paid for cell coverage for the day - and glad I did!

The run wasn’t what I expected…after going over the bridge (quite a climb), I jogged through some shopping areas and ended up in the Atlantis compound. Hitting a physical ‘pay wall’ I had to back track. Then I tried to find the way to the public beach (had taken a taxi there before) and couldn’t. after a while, the road was closed to the public, so I turned around and came back.

pretty happy with my time figuring all the stops I made and side jaunts. Was able to run up the bridge going, but walked up the hill on the way back.

For others thinking of doing this, there are sidewalk going to the bridge, but they are in poor shape so watch you step!  Also, drivers in town are not used to, or don’t care for, runners so don’t give much room. Finally, remember they drive in the left when crossing the street!!IMG_7864.thumb.jpeg.46221d0d82785d97411deccdd334e06c.jpegIMG_7867.thumb.jpeg.87191cdfb35f9cc3c62fb76d60f5f706.jpeg

A great adventure! Probably taking tomorrow off…

Let me know if I can help answer any questions to get you ready for your cruise. See you in a week!

Did you have any traffic issues going to the port via rideshare as opposed to a taxi? I had heard that the rideshares have to follow the same traffic flow as cars and can get hung up in traffic as opposed to taxis and busses which have their own lane and tend to get to drop off quicker - but I didn't know if that was factual or not?

Trouble in paradise!  Just got real nasty real quick. Glad I’m not out on deck (was a little while ago). Going to try and post a short video.

Edited to add a couple photos - right before the rain started and now.

Traffic was pretty bad because of the rain, but if there was a lane available, my driver used it!  He was cutting in and out of traffic and going around cars so I don’t think a taxi would have been quicker. Might have been quicker to get a taxi, though.

Seen this question come up before so being proactive with this post. Good bourbon selection in the SL, have Makers, bulleit, and buffalo trace. Isaac makes a great makers old fashioned!

hmmm, just tasted this one (not the first of the evening) and getting a vanilla taste. Drinkable, nonetheless.

Have the aqua show booked soon and hoping not cancelled due to weather. Seas are calm right now.

Congratulations on whatever it was that you may or may not have accomplished, participated in or for just showing up.  😀😉

I’m waiting for the aqua show to start, and looking for your thoughts/encouragement on something - STAIRS!

Almost done with second day and have yet to step into an elevator. Was really tempted today coming back from Nassau, but did all 11 flights (no floor 13). For handicapping, my cabin is on 14.

What’s the over/under?  How long can I schlep my aching body up these stairs?? I will take this as a challenge 😀

Every day. Good for endurance & breathing! 🙂

Or if that's too aggressive, how about taking the stairs on port days & skip the jogging so you can enjoy the port. On sea days, jog to your hearts content and take the elevator if you are going more than 3 or 4 floors.  Or vice versa, on sea days, do stairs & gym and on port days jog in port & take the elevators.  Just to change things up a bit

It should be noted I'm a couch potato but I have friends that run. Not jog, don't ever call them joggers! I did that once & got a very stern lecture. LOL.

Good idea, elevator for treat on running days!

I took a ton of photos of the show - loved it! It’s my new favorite aqua show, I think the music did it for me as the performance itself was similar 😀. Seems like the folks in the front rows got wetter than I recall from the others, though.

I picked my favorite photos.

Tonight’s dinner was at 150 Central Park.

They brought the bread, but this isn’t regular bread, instead part of the experience, so I had a couple pieces.

IMG_7946.thumb.jpeg.b9a9eb6ca7d4419379414738e93cb162.jpeg

First app was beet salad, very enjoyable

IMG_7945.thumb.jpeg.ebe4e5a5d086ee941fffa98f31da2c4d.jpeg

then scallops. Also very good!
IMG_7947.thumb.jpeg.82eca82fdb21905e10c21c0310403049.jpeg

then duck for main course. The duck was good, but a little inconsistent in flavor and maybe a bit dry. Could be biased as I had the best duck ever in Las Vegas a few weeks ago…

Finallly, peanut butter tart for desert. Excellent and the perfect size to not feel too guilty about (considering all the stairs!).

I always find it humorous that I can run 4 miles or cycle 10 miles but the STAIRS on any ship leave me questioning my cardiovascular health 🤣 I'll chalk it up to doing so many throughout the trip, haha, but usually mid way through I seem to do a little less huffing and puffing. I too will take the elevator as a reward when necessary, no shame 😉

Glad you liked the Aqua Show, I've been on Harmony and Allure and it is my favorite piece of entertainment and I think the athleticism of the performers is very motivating!

The crystal block is a loyalty recognition from C&A. We get our first one on our next cruise. Below copied from RC website.

How do you get crystal blocks on Royal Caribbean?

You will earn your first block on the sailing you reach 140 Crown & Anchor points. You will receive the block for the ship on which you reach the milestone. You You will receive additional blocks for every 70 Crown & Anchor points you earn after that.

That makes sense as I’ll pass 280 on this cruise. Thanks for the info!

looking forward to it getting better!

Tomorrow is coco cay so I think that will be deck 2 again 😞

my current trick is to do three or flights, then cross over to the other side for a few more.
