jamscckmc Posted February 13 #1 Share Posted February 13 In the US it used to be no white shoes, purses, pants, etc after the last weekend of summer. It looks like it’s still pretty warm in Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmania in late March and early April. Are white pants/ capris still worn that time of year? Thanks! possum52 Posted February 13 #2 Share Posted February 13 You can wear whatever colour and outfit you want to in Australia. It may not be really warm in Tasmania and Melbourne in late March as it is autumn here then. In saying that it there may be some hot days into the 30s. But as long as you have layers and perhaps a couple of pairs of long pants whatever colour you want, you will be fine. Always pack a light raincoat /jacket as well. Capris are fine until it starts to cool down. And of course you can wear white shoes all year round if you want to. 1

Korimako Posted February 27 #4 Share Posted February 27 From what I've read on these boards, that is a peculiarly American 'custom'. Nowhere else in the world does it. You can wear white whenever you like - even in the depths of winter!

Thanks! white capris/pants/shoes/tops/purses/anything else are worn any time of year. whether the weather is warm enough for capris or whether you personally like wearing white is the only consideration Most Australians probably haven't even heard of this :don't wear white after x day thing, let alone ever abided by it - I am 60 years old and only heard of it recently when I started reading travel blogs.
PerfectlyPerth Posted March 2 #6 Share Posted March 2 It's a US thing that I seriously thought ended in the 1950s 😆 In the rest of the world no one cares what you wear, what colour it is, what style, etc. We do have a preference that rudey bits are covered unless you are specifically at a nudist resort!
jamscckmc Posted March 4 Author #7 Share Posted March 4 Thanks! Won’t be showing my “rudey bits” because nobody wants to see that!
