Rare jam19872016 Posted March 20 Author #751 Share Posted March 20 I managed to skip breakfast not that it helped yesterday. Too many sweets I guess. Lunch starts in five minutes. I also heard they do tea time at the buffet so we will check that out later although it is not listed anywhere so not sure if that is accurate.
Rare jam19872016 Posted March 20 Author #752 Share Posted March 20 My mom has pulled ahead with four ducks. Claims to have found two more but had people ask her for them and gave them away. I've got to start looking better.

Rare jam19872016 Posted March 20 Author #757 Share Posted March 20 A little salty for my taste but still a nice flavor. A little more dill I think could have cut down the saltiness We are at our usual dinner table but different wait team and it's going kind of slow for lunch service. Liver for my mom 🤢 Pad Tai and tuna melt for me.
kiwichick62 Posted March 20 #758 Share Posted March 20 Al Bacio will be forever known to me as Al Bacon. I am sure to confuse DH when I tell him I want to go to Al Bacon for a coffee. How was the Pad Thai?

She said it was not too sweet which we both thought with cream and port wine it would be. She did not care for her liver, she said it was overcooked to the point of being ruined. She did not eat it.

Rare jam19872016 Posted March 20 Author #763 Share Posted March 20 I keep explaining to my mom she needs to say for here, not to go because they shove it in a bag otherwise. How is this for messy plating. 1

It bordered on bland but the shrimp gave it a nice flavor. The noodles were cooked better today, but just barely. Fine for me as I like slightly overcooked pasta but it was almost mushy again. The tuna was very good and somehow I even enjoyed the fries today.
Rare Salt Lifer Posted March 20 #766 Share Posted March 20 Okay, I typically eat a lightish lunch in the buffet and grab dessert there, then hit up Al Bacon later in the day for an afternoon chocolate tortes snack. The buffet desserts are never all that great, with the exceptions being chocolate mousse and cannoli when they appear. My new plan for my upcoming cruise in April is to head directly to Al Bacon for dessert and ignore the buffet desserts. Better use of my calories that way. Plus, on the Ascent it is quite a hike from the buffet to Al Bacon, so "exercise!"

It was quite sad looking. Taste wise it was one of the better key lime pies I've eaten and I am a huge key lime pie fan. Up there with pies at specialty restaurants, just a tiny mini slice. I could have used more. The dessert from al Bacon was the first dud so far, I tried the gluten free cake and well, thank goodness I can live a gluten full lifestyle. 1

Usually the only thing I've enjoyed there is the ice cream and the bread pudding. On Reflection, the bread pudding was ice cold. I tried the mousse, that was very good I will have to be on the lookout for a cannoli.

More likely, I'll just take the whole mess back to a table somewhere. 1

Not a fan of most gluten free stuff. You should treat yourself to a tart now.

I don't think it's going to be much but my mom really wants to check it out. 2
Rare jam19872016 Posted March 20 Author #774 Share Posted March 20 Hearing some clanking outside the window. Figured it was more pre drydock work going on. Next thing I know, they are washing the window.
