jeter55 Posted March 13 #1 Share Posted March 13 Is a 11:30 am post cruise flight in athens ok ?
CruiserBruce Posted March 13 #2 Share Posted March 13 Is about a 45 minute drive to the airport. As you are probably flying direct to the US, you need to allow over 2 hours for the added security requirements.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted March 13 #3 Share Posted March 13 Take the afternoon DL non-stop if it is offered. ATH can be a mess to go through, along with the drive from the port to the airport.
jollyjones Posted March 14 #4 Share Posted March 14 (edited) 11.30am would be just fine - the next day. Why ruin the end of your cruise worrying about making an early flight? Which IMO is far too early. I increasingly frequently allow an extra day at the end of cruises and find that I enjoy the afternoon and evening visiting wherever it is, then have a relaxed journey to the airport the next morning. It's just so much more enjoyable. And no worries about the ship docking late or immigration being slow to clear or whatever else might happen to slow disembarkation. It's just so much more enjoyable. Concur and more. The OP will have flown almost 5000 miles from home. To a location that isn't a convenient, cheap hop skip and jump from NY. Unless there is some pressing work commitment or court appearance as factors, I've never understood the rush to head home. Spend a couple of days enjoying Athens (or wherever). On a recent cruise through Asia, it was an extra couple of days on both the front and back ends, savoring some great cities as a result.
