Anyone living in Seattle or has sailed from Seattle

you are very welcome. :) if you do decide to buy a digi-cam, there are money saving tips... also buy a card reader (you can get at target, kmart, walmart, anywhere) so it doesn't drain your batteries while it is uploading pics from your camera to your computer. also buy battery recharger and rechargeable batteries for your camera. the other suggestion i had was, if you have a friend who has a digi-cam, perhaps you can ask them if you can borrow theirs for a weekend to see how like it. and like the above poster, i too use Costco for developing pics. have fun this weekend. :)

I'm going to go this week-end take my time and study and try out the camera's a the store and then try and make my mind up. So wish me luck. I feel better now after you saying that I shouldn't have a problem with seeing the display.

 

Also your right after the day of photo taking I can delete or keep what I like and then as you say what I don't like and delete will then free up more space on the memory card. I also glad to know the the scanners at the airport and the ship will not hurt or damage the memory card.

I had previously gotten some great information from some of ya'll

about hotels in Seattle.....(THANK YOU):D

I just returned from a Caribbean Cruise and so now I put my

attention towards this Oct cruise.:)

 

I booked 2 nights at the Silver Cloud Inn (pre-cruise) and

one of my cruisemates on our Roll found Greyline has bus

transportation from the airport for only about 12.00.

I sail solo so wondering if a cab might be more efficient?

Any thoughts from you Seattle folks?

 

Also, I can't recall who it was but someone mentioned an exhibit

of the Dead Sea Scrolls will be in your fair city. I would love

to see them. Any information on that from anyone?

I am not sailing till Oct...coming to Seattle Oct 11th and sailing

on the 13th.

I know I want to see Pike's Market too.

 

Any other friendly tips would be appreciated as this will be my

first time visiting!

A cab from the airport to the Silver Cloud Inn (I'm assuming the one on Lake Union just north of Downtown - or the one on Capitol/First Hill?) will be more efficient, but cost three times as much. However, you should note: the two central Silver Cloud Inns are actually not in Downtown. So those downtown bus services like Greyhound or Greyline probably do not serve the Silver Cloud. A taxi or rental car would be your best bet. You should check directly with your hotel. An airport shuttle owned by the hotel is a good possibility. Silver Cloud is a moderately priced hotel so their locations are usually on the outer edge of downtown, not actually in downtown.

The Dead Sea Scrolls will be at the Pacific Science Center, but the exhibition doesn't start until late September, and runs into early 2007. Sounds like perfect timing for you. Check it out on:

Finally, the Pike Place Market can be easily accessed by Metro Bus from either of the Silver Cloud Inns. Bus fare is about $1.25 - $1.50 depending on the time of day you travel. Ask the bus driver to tell you where to get off. And make sure you have a tourist map because you'll probably have to walk a 2-4 blocks.

Lake Union and Greyline does show their service stopping there.

I also know of the "SUPERSHUTTLE" at many airports. I can call

the hotel prior to make sure about it but I am almost postive

I saw the hotel on Grayline's website.

 

I am not renting a car...have no desire to drive around;) I know your

city has plenty of public transport and I can walk too:D. I called

the hotel once already and I think she said something stops

right in front...bus services or something? It has been a while since

I did my research.

have a wonderful time. I arrive your time late morning/early

afternoon on a Wednesday. So the rest of that day and night,

all day Thursday and we sail on Friday...10/13!
