coloradosmom Posted April 23 #1 Share Posted April 23 Hi, Limited in what we can do because we have a 7 year old. We can do a kayak tour of auke bay and get off and walk mendenhall lake shore or go on a river float trip. We've never been to Alaska but If our primary goal was just to feel that we are surrounded in the glory of Alaska's scenery, which would you choose? Aquahound Posted April 23 #2 Share Posted April 23 Not sure what you mean by the Auke Bay tour with a walk on the shore on Mendenhall Lake, unless you're saying the tour takes you to the 2 different locations. I'm assuming the walking part would be near the skaters cabin, which is ok. Kayaking Auke Bay doesn't seem all that great to me, especially with the boating traffic in that area. I think rafting the river is the better option.
rnr4thatsme Posted April 24 #3 Share Posted April 24 I haven't been, but I would recommend you watch a youtube video of the float before you decide. I was thinking of that one myself, but just be aware it does go through some residential areas - it's not all scenic floating.
wolfie11 Posted April 24 #4 Share Posted April 24 I personally rank the float trip among my least-favorite tours, but a 7-year-old would likely love it.
