Cabins for handicapped near elevators

Recommended Posts

Hi, We were on the Zuiderdam May 2022. We had cabin 8068. We were right by the glass elevators and the regular elevators.  It was very convenient being so close to the elevator. From the balcony you could see a bit of the glass elevator and I suppose people could see us on the balcony for a moment as they went by. It did not bother us. This particular sailing was not a full ship so there were no groups waiting for the elevator. We would not hesitate to book an accessible cabin next to the elevators in the future.

Although a regular cabin, we sailed in 8080 aboard the Nieuw Statendam. As you can see, it is adjacent to the stairs and elevators, and we were concerned about the possible noise. In making our final selection, however, the balcony size and cabin location outweighed our fear of potential noise. As it turned out, there was absolutely no disruptive noise, and we couldn't have been happier with our decision. Ours was a 14-night cruise with a full passenger load, but still no noise from those waiting for or exiting the elevators or staircase.

We have stayed in 7146 on Koningsdam and heard no elavator noise or talking.

We now book 7080 on Eurodam or Nieuw Amsterdam because it accommodates a rollator better without being a handicapped stateroom. Again, not bothered by noise and very convenient to MDR, Lido buffet, Sea View pool/deck/bar. But it does NOT have a roll-in bathroom or shower.

We occupied #7033, a Neptune Suite on the Zaandam this month facing the hall opening for the elevators and stairs.  It was never noisy in the area and very convenient for stairs to the Lido.
