Time required to get to FLL when docking in Miami

Recommended Posts

We are doing a transatlantic cruise in October. We land in Miami and our last port before disembarking is New York. Our best option for our flight home is out of Fort Lauderdale at 12:05. I'm a little anxious. We also walk off the ship with our luggage and plan to take an Uber to the airport. I'm wondering if we will still have to go through customs since we will clear earlier in New York. Has anyone had success with an early flight?

You can make a 12:05 flight whether you have to go through Immigration (Customs isn't really much of a "thing" any more) or not. Most Immigration now is facial recognition, which takes seconds in most cases. Can you get off fairly early on the process? Either pre-arrange your transport or take taxi or Uber?

Remember you will be arriving at FLL in the middle of the crush from Port Everglades as well.
