LIVE B2B CARNIVAL JUBILEE JUNE 8-JUNE 22 2024

Recommended Posts

My DH says I NEVER complete a cruise without catching some kind of bug. And I wash my hands “washy, washy” religiously.

I love Metallica played on strings!

Sorry your fun is winding down.

I hope you both are feeling better!  Do you find it hard to believe that your two weeks are over already?

We are tired but at least the cold symptoms are better.

Yes, it has gone too fast! Next cruise isn't until October.  Would like to do another Live. That cruise will be very different- Only doing 1 specialty dining. It was my favorite ship, had the best food in MDR i have ever had but it was pre-covid so I am curious to see how it is now.

Awakened around 0245. Just chilling on my balcony, not sure I will be able to go back to sleep. Getting close to Galveston. Can see the lights way off in the distance (to far to pick up on my camera) as well as all the container ships/tankers waiting to go into port.

We are headed back to Galveston, enjoying a purple sunset in the alchemy.

I love purple sunset, my fave alchemy drink. My family thinks it's gross, but they obviously have no taste.

Yea, i think it may be my fave alchemy drink as well. I try other drinks there, but always go back to the purple sunset.

Since I have some time I will summarize my trips..

The Jubilee is gorgeous, would I sail her again, absolutely but only on a longer cruise. The food options are plentiful especially at lunch. This is the first time I didnt eat  in the MDR at all (except for brunch on 1 day)

Specialty dining- Steakhouse- very good but not great (the sorbet was great), my lamb was good enough that I had it every time I ate there though. For $49 you get 2 apps, entree and dessert.  I feel like the servers are overwhelmed but they were always friendly.

Restaurants contnued,

Rudis- also $49, just didnt wow me. Although my first meal was pretty good. Mums lobster was very chewy and the crab in the stuffed lobster was overly crabby(i know that sounds weird because it is crab but just had that not fresh taste)

The cioppino was very good and so was the key lime pie. The shrimp were tasty as well.

My lobster was just kinda flat tasting and I required salt several times to give it some flavor.

Also the last night we ate there, both tables on either side of us were casino comps and we felt slightly ignored.

Would I eat there again, probably not

Restaurants, food etc..

Bonsai Teppanyaki- $38

Food is good, show is the standard onion ring choo choo, rice beating heart etc... great for the kids. It was 100% better on Jubilee than the last time I had it on a different ship. I think the whole experience really comes down to the chef and your table mates. I might do it again. At $38  though, that is pushing the limit on what places on land cost at least where I have lived in the past.

Restaurants and food continued

Bonsai sushi- its cheap, filling and usually very easy to get in. Biggest complaint isnt the food its the fact that anything going on at Grand Central is very loud and that filters in to the restaurant so just a warning.

The food itself is satisfying but y'all know I love my sushi and just understand this is a simple menu. (You arent getting Uni, salmon roe or any such things here!)

The shrimp tempura is really tasty!

Emerils 717- only ate there once but really good (was really good on the Celebration too!) Planned to go back but ran out of time!

Streets eats, guys, big chicken etc...

I love the Steamed buns, mad sizzle didnt eat at time fries.

Really tasty and nice small portions. Ate at Shaqs big chicken several times- great option, the lines can get long but it moves fast.

Guys Burgers- bring back the seasoning on the fries....good burger, fills the tummy, nuff said

Did not eat at Pig and Anchor.

Buffet- the few times I ate in the buffet for lunch was really good, of course I got the shawarma often, even tried the gelato but the food was pretty darn good. Kinda wished we checked it out at dinner!

Ok, bit of an adventure, almost went to George Bush Intl....i realized I should have been at hobby but the map still showed a distance to go so I said i am going to Houston Hobby right? The driver looked slighty panicked, i guess the company didnt specify the airport..... turned around 20 min later should be at Hobby in a few min...

At the airport, through security, having a little grub and charging my phone, oh and some liquid refreshment

Oh and of course the dude next to me is already half in the bag and being an a** to the bartender- lets see if they let him on the plane....
