Can you talk us through the arithmetic? How does $20+15% come to more than $25?

I thought I had kept the receipt but I can't find it. The corkage fee was an odd amount, around $22, and I don't think the tip was actually 15%. I'll keep looking. I think the fee has gone up in the past year and they are trying to have at $25 including the tip.

We were on the same crossing. It was great reliving the experience via your review. This was our 8th crossing, and I think it was one of the best. We had great meals, a great waitstaff and sommelier, and just a great time. I had hoped to meet you in the Commodore Club on the first sea day, but I think there was a lecture that had our name on it.

That's funny Frank because we were at the lecture too. I believe it was the featured speaker, Jeffrey Weinberg. We did go to the Commodore Club but left at 2 minutes till when no other CC members had showed. We thought Mr Weinberg was excellent. We also very much enjoyed Captain Chris, Seth Gopin and  Jean Fullerton.

I completely agree with about the cruise. I think that if you do more than 1 TA on the QM2 it is because that first one was magical. So our first TA will probably always be our favorite but this one was a very close second, it had a lot of magic too.

Given the rigorous training and health requirements, and the restrictions on their presence in common areas, your photos and comments indicate Cunard is not enforcing its own policy, as it is clear those are not bona fide service dogs. This is dismaying. I like dogs, but I also consider it the height of inconsideration and selfishess to foist your "emotional support" pooch on the rest of us. If you're so emotionally fragile, you shouldn't be on a ship because you'd be useless and dangerous in an emergency.

I've often wondered do guests with these support 'Dogs' occupy specific staterooms which have been set aside for Pets and their owners ?

Am I the only one who wouldn't be too pleased to have been allocated a stateroom of 'my booking preference' when the previous guest has had a Dog lounging around the Carpets,Settee or possibly on the Bed  🤬  - No mater how well housekeeping may have serviced the room prior to my arrival

I made this point a while back as my husband has quite a reaction to animal fur, even when the animal isn't around. Not anaphylactic grade but definitely swollen/streaming eyes and streaming nose. We wouldn't be 'very happy' at all if that occurred.

I'm guessing some kind of high grade specialist cleaning would have to be undertaken before the next occupants could move in.

Permitting emotional support dogs can get out of hand. A while back there was a thread on the Holland America forum about a so-called support dog.  This poorly-trained dog was barking and growling at other passengers. It pooped in the lido.  The dog's owner apparently didn't need emotional support to visit ports of call and left the dog in the cabin where it barked all or most of the time. There was a near revolt from many passengers and a public meeting was arranged with the captain.  It was reported that the captain replied: "no comment" to questions which he couldn't answer.

Hmm.  Now I am wondering if my allergy response was due to a dog vs the pillows and duvet.  I had bright red itchy eyes every morning!  I looked drunk (or hungover) all day, every day.  😂

Jack, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! I’ve been reading so many reviews and vlogs over the last few weeks, and was becoming a bit concerned. However, after reading  about your journey as well as @Miss G review, I am not reenergized about my upcoming crossing in November!

Hope you are fully recovered! And thank you again!

Thank you ECC866. We started to feel better yesterday and are much today. I'm confident that we will be 100% by the end of the weekend. We took a 30 minute walk today and it felt so good. Thanks to all who have inquired about our health and wished us well.

Jack
