Whom to book with?

Recommended Posts

The advantage for me would be not having to deal with a TA. I hate waiting for a TA to do things when I can just deal directly. Didn’t realize this entirely till I was forced to use a TA for a cruise next year and I am hating every moment of it. Turns out I’m a bit of a control freak and have no need for a TA.

If the pricing from the NCL casino is basically the same with a TAs price, is there any advantage booking through the casino?

You need to ask the casino and the TA since there maybe perks not reflected in the price.

You can always find a TA that discounts the fare by up to 10%.

Wait?!?! Now it's 10%? Haha, I'm just kidding (seriously, just kidding).

You're spot on with your advice!

My TA gives a lot of FF miles.  Most often 7 miles per dollar of cruise fare.  And they also often offer free pre-paid gratuities for 2.

This beats the 10% off CAS offered me for a 12-night Asia cruise but did not beat a comp inside cabin on a 7-night cruise (upgraded at cost to a MB club balcony.

Honestly, I like getting the big influx of airline miles.  We put them to good use.

I haven't anybody that can offer me a better deal than what I can get online.

You haven't been looking.

My TA offers an 8% discount from the NCL online fare.

I have heard of some TA that give you a $50 OBC, that's because they get a group rate, they sell multiple cruises from same cruise line.

On my direct booking I get 10% Military Appreciation Discount, and the shareholder benefit.

When I book through my TA, I get the 10% Military Appreciation Discount, the shareholders benefit and then she takes 8% off the cruise fare.

IOW, she gives everything the cruise line gives plus an 8% discount and this isn't because she gets a group rate.

My NCL Personal Cruise Consultant (PCC) is a gem.  She handles my inquiries and issues within minutes.  If her line is busy, she calls me back within an hour.  Her suggestions have been excellent and I have never had a problem she didn’t didn’t promptly resolve.

Looks like you found a good TA.

I got lucky.  My best advice to anyone looking for a good TA is to ask other passengers when they are on a cruise.    Hot dogs and rotisserie chicken.
