The casino on the Sun Princess has high ceilings, lots of tables and slot machines. More Buffalo than you ask for and plenty of Video Poker with speed control machines. Only occasionally did the smoke bother me. People really did abide by - smoking for players only.
Now the not so good.  The casino does not have enough employees - the crap table was only open from 8pm to 1 am. Also they shut the table down twice while we had money on the table in play. Only after 11 of us raised hell did they let the roll play out.  The employees were not the most personable and I attribute that to the lack of backfill. Also just an observation: the employees on the Sun are supposed to be the best of the best and some are but others have a little attitude. There wasn’t a bar in the casino and I personally miss that as you can build friendships with other couples. There were only 3 servers at night. I tipped so I never had a problem.  I was surprised that the casino didn’t have an inaugural chip show casing the Sun ( opportunity lost in my book). With 10 ports in 14 days the casino wasn’t open a lot so the offers were really poor. I am sure the Sun will get it right but they have a lot of work to do. Others have written about casinos on other ships and based on what I have read we will be seeking out other options. Having said that we are booked on 2 Princess Cruises next year - the Regal and the Majestic ( both TA’s over and back). In my opinion Princess is going through a “brand crisis”. It seems Princess is trying to determine where they go as far as a brand in the future. The love boat is trying to walk a fine line by keeping current loyal customers loyal, attract families, and or be “cool and hip”. I will write up more later on this as part of my complete review.

Thanks for your review of the casino.  I'm on the Sun in January 2025...hoping for them to self-correct as you suggest they need to.

Regarding Princess overall, yeah, they do have an older crowd that probably doesn't drive much extra revenue -- but I'll take that any day over more families.

Taking the bars out of the casinos seems really boneheaded to me.

Starting with Royal class ships Princess moved the casino bar out of the casino itself. On the Royal it is in Take 5 a non smoking area next to the casino with a door between them

Same with Enchanted. They were still working on it when I was on board a few weeks ago, but I've read the space is now open.

Really disappoints me.  My wife and I used to meet couples in the bar.  She is not really an avid player. Lots of complaints about the bars on the Sun. Many like the wheelhouse bar were walk through.  Crooners competed with the Piazza. Omalley’s was the only bar that was enclosed and you could really hear the entertainment that was really good.  A great addition but the others were kinda not so good.
