Then I walked into the village of Corfe and started out in the Sweet Shop.  What would you choose?

Flying Saucers! I buy those every Christmas at the British shop here. My kids LOVE them. They are sooooooooo expensive at the British shop.

I think I did get the answers I needed and Princess is in the cards, but we'll have to up our cruise attire. When on vacation (land and sea), we live in athletic shorts and t-shirts (sloppy attire 😉) and flip flops. If we do NOT do an Uncruise for Alaska, I'm going to be convincing my husband we have to take some decent clothes and book Princess. 

Based on your review, and Yvonne's, I am seeing how great the Princess product is (even despite no Haven-type area). I'm willing to up the clothes with some Docker-style shorts/pants and a polo shirt. I've just got to get my husband there! We are absolutely self-proclaimed slobs when on vacation, given our busy (well-dressed) working days. 

 

Thanks for your comments! It's helpful to know we'll be able to adjust and fit in the guidelines - one thing we don't do is not adhere to the dress code.

This was in the tea shop. I was debating between scones with clotted cream or pub food.

 

I was looking for a pub and I think I ended up in someone’s back garden. It was a lovely garden.

I started with an apple and blackcurrant cider and I will spend the remaining years of my life trying to track this down. If you, too, want the most amazing cider this is Thatcher’s

 

Ploughman’s Lunch vegetarian edition (I gave the Stilton to the lady at the next table)

 

 

When the waiter came by with fish and chips and a hot dog for someone else he let me take a photo

I got to have pub lunch and it was wonderful. Don’t you love it when travel dreams, travel expectations and travel reality align?

We drove by many houses with thatched roofs today. I didn’t get a decent photo from the bus but I did capture this one while I was up at the castle.

 

 

Did you know that thatched roofs need to be replaced every 25-30 years and that it costs ~50000.00£? A homeowner must hire the local thatcher and is not allowed to search around for someone who will give a deal. All the thatchers know each other and each village has their own unique style. People often pay extra for the thatcher to add an animal such as a rabbit or a horse. If someone defaults on their payment the thatcher will build a rat on their roof, indicating to everyone that the people living inside are cheap.

Bakewell Tarts (NASTY) - yes, that is how you display them. Did you try one? They are the worst baked good to come out of the UK in my opinion. 

 

Roast beef crisps (chips)? Of course. Those are a staple. Also roast chicken. If you see pickled onion Monster Munch, make sure to try them. They are the bomb (and another thing I regulalry buy for four times the price at the British store. I'm betting you got the cheese and onion crisps!

Reading this makes me want to visit places that aren't that different to where I live!  But seeing them through new eyes brings a totally new perspective.

 

The only problem is now I have "As I Was Going To St Ives's" running through my head in a loop 🙃

All Sorts Licorice and Smarties - when the Dover AFB Commissary gets specialty items (please don't hurt yourselves laughing) at Christmas time I buy disgraceful amounts of them and try not to eat them all at once.

When I returned to the Island Princess this afternoon I had to remove the insoles from my shoes to try to dry them out. I took a long, hot shower then packed my suitcase for disembarkation tomorrow. So sad.

 

I don’t know if you can read these, but the Guest Services team did an outstanding job  planning and coordinating all the disembarkation options. 600 guests are staying on the Island Princess to Barcelona. I am not one of them.

Culzean Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland (west coast of Scotland) has quite a few varieties of palm trees on the grounds.  Has something to do with the trade winds and Gulfstream bringing warm air that allows them to flourish.
