Can I take bags off early but stay on the ship

Recommended Posts

A port of call is right near where I live. Will Royal allow me to take my bags off, but stay on the cruise till the end to save on flight baggage costs?

I have walked off the ship at a port of call will a large suitcase in the past with no issues.  I did have one port security person comment that he hoped I wasn't planning on bringing that back full of alcohol, but other than that comment, it was no issue.  I have also reboarded at the same port of call with a large suitcase and had no issues bringing a suitcase back on.

I've brought an extra suitcase filled with donation-type items (baby clothes, school supplies, etc) for family when we had a port stop before. They did search it, but had no issues when they saw that there wasn't anything illegal. I imagine it wouldn't be any different for you, except it might feel a little weird going home and then back on the cruise again.
