Softservekid1 Posted July 24 #1 Share Posted July 24 I'm having second thoughts about renting a scooter. I think I'll be okay while on the ship. It's the walk to the ports from the ships which has me worried. It is a far walk and further when you get to the port area (Costa mays, etc). My issue is a bad back which keeps me from walking long distances. So, how much trouble is it getting one of those Pedi-cabs when I get off the ship to take me to town? Are there a bunch of them? Are they scooped up fast? Can you find one when its time to get back on the ship? I could save about $400 cancelling my scooter reservation. Rare Essiesmom Posted July 24 #2 Share Posted July 24 I have not seen them in Costa Maya. There is a tram shuttle back and forth on the main leg of the pier. My recent stops in Cozumel have been at Punta Langosta pier and they were plentiful there. I can’t remember seeing them at Puerto Maya pier when you get off the ship, but they are always there to take you back.
Rare sparks1093 Posted July 24 #3 Share Posted July 24 I've only seen them on some piers, I can't say that I've seen them in the port (which doesn't mean they aren't there, of course).
Purvis1231 Posted July 24 #4 Share Posted July 24 I have never seen the pedicabs at Costa Maya. but it is no problem in Cozumel. I would not rent a scooter either for $400 but I would and did buy one from Walmart for less than $600 (a little more if you add the warranty). We did this and have taken it on 4 cruises. Owning it gives you the chance to learn how to use it, disassemble it, and store it.

The pier pedicabs only run the length of the pier, they do not go to town nor to town transportation.
