Back to back in Quebec City

We booked two cruises - Boston to Quebec City (9/6/24) and Quebec City back to Boston (9/13/24).  NCL does not recognize this as a back-to-back cruise.  I am told we must exit the ship in Quebec City and reboard as if it were a new cruise.  We'll have to take our bags off, sit for a few hours and then check in all over.  Has anyone experienced this?  If so, was NCL willing to help with bags staying onboard, etc. so you could spend some time exploring Quebec City?  To compound things we will have different cabins on each cruise.

This doesn't sound right. I would definitely get a 2nd opinion. Usually if you pack your stuff up the room steward will move it over to the new room.

We've done several B2Bs and this is news to us. We have never had to take our luggage off. You will be given In Transit stickers which will get you waved on past all the newbies when you return from Quebec City if you get off the ship.

Thank you!

Here's what our TA told us:  "The cruise line told me their system won't let them flag your sailings as a back to back. They said you can tell the cabin steward onboard that you will be in the same cabin on the next sailing and ask them not to move your belongings.

"You will need to disembark and re-embark in Canada. You will need to have your travel documents and edocs from the cruise line with you to re-embark."

But we will be changing cabins (due to upgrade) and I guess I'll just have to check when we board in Boston to ensure all goes well.

I have no idea where you heard any of that but it is completely wrong. I have done that same B2B with the Quebec turn around. You don’t have to get off the ship. If you switch cabins you have to pack but the stewards move it for you. Having said that, don’t stay on the ship. Eat a leisurely breakfast, lets the crowds disperse and then get off the ship and go explore Quebec. You will get your new key cards the night before and you will get an in transit sticker to wear. You will have 5 or 6 hours ashore just like any port stop.

All of the above is based on personal experience.

You need a more informed TA, none of that is correct as I explained above and I am sorry that they got you upset for nothing.  Have a great cruise, I get on in Boston the day you get back and am doing the same B2B.

This is why I use NCL's PCCs!  They're sometimes in error but you can always escalate the issue to an upper level of management.  Dunno what you do when your TA is wrong bc usually NCL will force you to go through your TA with any issues instead of dealing directly with NCL.

We did a B2B years ago in Venice & it was EXACTLY as other posters above described.  Only difference with us was we stayed in the same cabin for 14 days.  Had a nice leisurely breakfast, got off, saw Venice & used the transit sticker to get back on bypassing the mob waiting to board (got LOTS of dirty looks for our future fellow pax...lol)

Good luck but I hope you still have a good cruise.
