lettrich Posted August 18 #1 Share Posted August 18 Hello - we will be going to Great Stirrup Kay in July. Are the cabanas worth it? Looking at the “first level” cabanas for our group of 8. Does it include a server dedicated to your cabana to get your drinks? Does the drink package work on the private island? Haven’t been on a Norwegian cruise since 2000. Thanks for your advice! Coastalbreezes Posted August 18 #2 Share Posted August 18 Yes the drink package is included at GSC. Cabanas are a wonderful option for the day and you will have a dedicated drink server all day.

Haven’t been on a Norwegian cruise since 2000. Thanks for your advice! Yes, the drink package carries over to the island. You asked about "cabanas" on Great Stirrup Cay. However, did you actually intend to ask about Villas? Villas are more like a "garden home," vs. an outdoor wooden structure with a small level of privacy. The levels of services, available added options, and their locations (between the two distinctions) are quite noticeable. Which is evidenced by the costs associated with each. Either type of structure (and area) is a nice addition to the day's visit!
Rare Peachypooh Posted August 18 #4 Share Posted August 18 We always get a classic cabana on GSC. If we have more than 6 we pay the $25 or so extra for the extra people. There are also larger basic cabins that will hold 8 but we found it more economical to just pay a little for each extra person. Definitely worth getting the cabana and there is a dedicated server but we always end up walking to the buffet and bar as they don't come around that much. Fuoco Posted August 18 #6 Share Posted August 18 Hello to you! Last year three of us went on a cruise which started on New Year’s Eve! Part of the trip was a stop at Great Stirrup Cay. We got a cabana/villa. It was amazing! We had upgraded the drinks package and had bottles of champagne to spare and our own refrigerator. Our attendant was passing by regularly and even asked us if it was enough. The cabana had a bathroom, shower, inside pull out couch, coffee maker, water, extra towels. The best part was an exclusive part of the beach with our own loungers and umbrellas—- our villa number was in the umbrellas. We had access to a buffet only for cabanas and we did not wait! I would definitely choose option again. It was not cheap, but it was the most relaxing day! We sat and watched people do the zip line/course. Basically newlyweds torturing one another! This was our experience also. While we (I) loved having a villa, we did not see much of any dedicated server and took turns walking to the buffet and bar to get new drinks.
ggTexasGal Posted August 20 #8 Share Posted August 20 What I have noticed (our experiences are): Location of your Villa in Silver Cove matters. The further away from the restaurant, or bar, the less frequently your villa might be served. As with most service related issues, tipping at the time of each service seems to be a good "motivator" for continued attention. The cabanas (located closer to the main beach and the Lighthouse bar) might receive service from a roaming server. However, we just head to the Lighthouse bar, so I have no tips to offer there.
