Celebrity Apex Select Dining

Any time my wife & I have previously been on a Celebrity cruise we have selected select/ anytime dining. We are possibly looking to go on Apex next year is it still possible to apply for select dining, apologies if it has been covered in previous threads

Yes, if that option is available when you book the cruise.

Do a mock booking and after you select a cabin and move through the process you will get an option to select your dining. If anytime is not available you can choose to be waitlisted. Currently anytime is not available for our Oct 25 cruise but the waitlist usually clears before sailing.

Our travel rep who we always deal with for cruises checked today and is a bit perplexed as she said the ship has still plenty availability but is showing as full for select dining and no waitlist added, which she has never seen before, she is going to investigate further tomorrow?

We booked the Apex in May for a sailing in June 2025 and select dining was already full. Only late dining was available. We’ve been waitlisted for select dining.

It's June and  the fjords cruise we are looking at but no wait listing even appearing for our rep to add us?

Reading other threads it appears the Celebrity system has an issue with E class ship bookings for dining.  All bookings appear to come up as late dining only.

 

In reality all dining on E class is Anytime (!), there is no fixed time dining unless you choose it and this can be requested when on board.    Anytime will be confirmed once you receive your final invoice.

We'll see when we first board the Edge in September. Booked this cruise March 2023 for Select Early (6:PM) (IMO is TD) at that time while on the Apex. Still showing Select Early 6:PM. When we were on the Apex we made Select Anytime reservations for 6:PM when we first booked that cruise in 2022. Once onboard we were advised all precruise MDR reservations weren't being accepted. After all that we ended up with  6:PM dining every night, same table, same MDR that we originally requested. Consistently Inconsistent.

That has changed.  Just off the Beyond and there was fixed time dining, on boarding folks who had Fixed dining had cards in their rooms with their assigned dining room and table number.  On the Edge in April there was fixed time dining as noted below.    Last week we booked a sailing on Apex and all 3 options ( Select, Fixed Early and Fixed Late were available to choose among.

We also just got off Beyond and were assigned late dining.  The dining card in our room was for the individual who apparently let the cabin go right before FPD (we got a pop back SV).  We did not go to see the hostess in the afternoon, but went to Tuscan which had no line.  They told us where our assigned dining was, but said we could switch to Select.  There definitely is fixed dining on the Beyond, but you can switch onboard.  We were at a two top in Cosmopolitan which is my least favorite E class restaurant.  Our wait team was excellent so we kept the fixed seating for the cruise and were given the comprehensive menu each night for all four dining rooms.  We never ordered any dishes specific to Cosmopolitan.  Would I do fixed again?  No, would switch to Select (anytime) once onboard.

Our cruise agent has been checking everyday says ship has plenty availability showing, but also showing select dining as full and no sign of being able to add to a waiting list. She says she hasn't come across this before. We are reluctant to book as fixed time dining is no use to us either way too early or way too late.

It’s all basically a purposely poorly communicated “scheme” to space out usage  of the 4 MDR through the dinner service hours.  When you board just go to any of the 4 MDR host stands and tell them when you prefer to dine and you will be accommodated.
