  1. We were on Apex in January, Western Caribbean. No dressing up any nights including evening chic. Returned a week ago from Ascent TA and most women were dressy in the evening, although guys were a bit more casual. We'll see how it is on Beyond ABC cruise in August.
  2. There's a difference depending on the cruise location, type of cruise, ages of cruisers. Just our experience but found TA (to Europe) dressy most nights, European slightly dressy most nights, Caribbean not dressy at all (even on evening chic nights), bordering on sloppy. Haven't done Alaska.
  3. Looking forward to following you and the Queen! A well-deserved break for you!
  4. While we like having the option to be on the balcony, in reality we use a balcony less than an hour a day. Never would sit in the sun that long (worked in dermatology).
  5. We have cruised non-E class with regular verandas, E class with SV, DPV and IV. Although we both prefer SV, if SV too pricey DH prefers DPV and I prefer IV. Was great on our recent Ascent TA when we would have rarely sat outside. Never closed the shade or frosted bifold doors. Ocean sounds and breeze with window down, no need for AC. Only minus was ocean mist/salt on window. Was never cleaned on 12 night TA.
  6. Now you'll have people calling it the garden room cabin. 😆
  7. 😆 No idea. We don't eat at cheap chain restaurants. No need for vast amounts of mediocre food.
  8. After cruising on Edge twice, Apex four times and Ascent TA last two weeks, I would be hard-pressed to agree that the four E class MDRs feel like cheap chain restaurants. Please tell me which have the art, furniture lighting and ambiance of Cyprus, Tuscan, Normandy and Cosmopolitan. We truly enjoy our dining experience in those restaurants and feel it is special. We too have dined many times in the two story Celebrity dining rooms, but that experience is both overwhelming and underwhelming.
  9. So we are off our TA on Ascent today, spending one night in Barcelona before heading back to FL. Our weather was very nice, mostly 70-73 with fairly light wind. Cooler as we headed north the second week. Temps mid to high 60s with more breeze. If the sun was out, people were out on the pool/resort deck. We hung out in the solarium since our blood is thin, living in FL. Hope your cruise is great!
  10. We got off the Ascent TA today. Our transit had very calm seas -- most was swells of a bit over six feet. We were in 8186 and had no noise but noticed three shims in closet. No noise complaints from fellow cruisers. What a great cruise! Hope to do a post trip review thread this week.
  11. We were on the Apex in January, very casual and no dressing up for chic nights. Just got off Ascent TA today, people dressed up every evening and especially on chic nights. I enjoyed seeing everyone looking great and enjoying themselves. Wonderful cruise!
  12. We saw several med evacuations on our early cruises many years ago, but have had none during sea time for years. Currently on Ascent TA, wonder how they handle since it's seven days until land?
  13. Happy to! All packed. Fort Lauderdale is 79 today. DH says weather looks good once we get across, but that can change. He's done a number of crossings with 30 years in the Navy and thinks weather this time of year should be okay. When do you depart, and where to?
  14. Thanks for your Live! Getting excited for the TA on Sunday and trying to finish packing. Have a great day!
  15. Safe travels home, and enjoyed as always your pics and commentary on your cruise adventures! Look forward to reading about your travels with the Queen. And many thanks for information on Norwegian proverbs -- am sure translations are interesting 😆. We head out on Ascent TA on Sunday.
  16. On topic, on cruise I enjoy having smoked or pickled fish for breakfast. Otherwise the only fish I will eat is salmon. Slightly off topic, my husband's business partner provided me the following entry from his desk calendar today (bc my paternal great grandparents were Norwegian, my maternal grandparents were Swedish). "In every woman there is a Queen. Speak to the Queen and the Queen will answer". Norwegian Proverb Is this a common proverb? 😊 Kristin
  17. On the Apex in January we had the worst stateroom attendant we've had in 30 years of cruising. We were in an SV. Saw the attendant maybe four times in passing, there were many deficiencies. Wrote up a list for GS who said hotel director would want to meet with us. On the last day of the cruise, the assistant HD called us to apologize. Hope we have better luck on Ascent TA on Sunday.
  18. Your August cruise sounds wonderful! Enjoy the Beyond and bon voyage!
  19. Love "my head is exploding" 😆. Mine too, packing for the Ascent TA next Sunday. More challenging being our first TA. Good luck!
  20. We've been in an SV three times for a total of 4 weeks, Med and Caribbean, never had motion. On Apex and Edge.
  21. Your cabin terms are a little confusing. To clarify, do you mean: -Cabins with balconies = infinite verandas -Outside staterooms = sunset verandas -Outside deluxe staterooms = deluxe porthole verandas
  22. Thanks for your wonderful trip report. We love cruising in Greece, started many years ago when we were stationed in Stuttgart. Napflio is one of our favorites -- spent time at the city beach where the water is indeed beautiful. A lovely Greek gentleman shared fresh figs with us. Our last Greece cruise was in 2022.
  23. Sorry about all that bus time! 😞. Your pictures are beautiful, thanks for sharing. Kristin
  24. Our first (actually DH has done quite a few, courtesy of 30 year career in USN) and we're excited! Have done a variety of cruise lines and ships over the years and we love E class; four Apex cruises, 1 Edge. First time in infinite veranda, previously in SVs and DPV. The four MDRs are great -- our favorites are Cyprus and Normandie.
