  1. We just got off Beyond. Agree on reading in Eden, but there are NO books, upstairs or other. There were a few, mostly foreign language, down on Deck 3 where there are a few laptops in the former I store area by Guest Relations. I think World Class bar would be a good place to read early in day. Al Bacio was quiet until at least 9. Also Sunset Bar. I remember someone reading early on the Magic Carpet.
  2. We also just got off Beyond and were assigned late dining. The dining card in our room was for the individual who apparently let the cabin go right before FPD (we got a pop back SV). We did not go to see the hostess in the afternoon, but went to Tuscan which had no line. They told us where our assigned dining was, but said we could switch to Select. There definitely is fixed dining on the Beyond, but you can switch onboard. We were at a two top in Cosmopolitan which is my least favorite E class restaurant. Our wait team was excellent so we kept the fixed seating for the cruise and were given the comprehensive menu each night for all four dining rooms. We never ordered any dishes specific to Cosmopolitan. Would I do fixed again? No, would switch to Select (anytime) once onboard.
  3. Currently on Beyond in SV. Two loungers, two chairs, small occasional table. They were there when we embarked.
  4. Currently on Beyond, no problem carrying on soda from port visit. Never an issue on our many previous X cruises.
  5. We also thought it was terrific on the April TA. No complaints whatsoever.
  6. Edge/E class ships have large group tables in their four MDRs that are sometimes set off a little bit from other tables so noisewise not as disruptive. Still disruptive to other diners with the same wait staff. But large groups are more easily accomodated.
  7. Thanks for your review! We did Western Med on Apex in 2022 late August, good ports. Hot but not oppressively so, but then we live in south Tampa Bay where we're routinely mid-nineties in summer. Took the Ascent TA in April and really enjoyed the ship. The infinite veranda was great for the TA. Soon on Beyond for first time.
  8. Sitting sideways is facing the bow, which would have a person facing a veranda wall. Facing forward is facing port or starboard, facing and viewing the water. My gripe is people keep posting that they cannot sit facing the water off port or starboard which isn't true. Also post that DPVs (deluxe porthole veranda) are dark which they aren't. And these are people who haven't necessarily stayed in a DPV. Cabin attendants place the deck chairs in a sideways position, so if you are just viewing rather than staying in, may lead you to believe that the chairs on the veranda only fit sideways. If someone doesn't like, fine, but don't post what you don't know. We love E class and have stayed in SV, DPV, IV and like them all. April in IV, soon in SV.
  9. Read above "VERY small, only able to sit sideways, not able to face ocean". Sitting forward IS facing the ocean IMHO and DH and I had no problem facing forward facing the ocean.
  10. Broken record. You CAN sit facing forward in the deck chairs on a porthole veranda. .We spent three weeks in porthole verandas on Apex in 2023. Wish people would quit posting this wrong info on porthole verandas.
  11. DH says Napoleon was 5'5. We really enjoyed Ajaccio. Took the little sightseeing train, came back and got in the water at the beach close to the ship. Was end of June, so weather was not so humid. Have a great cruise, we loved our time on Ascent for the TA this spring.
  12. The statements that the chairs on porthole verandas must sit sideways are inaccurate and misleading. We spent a total of three weeks in 2023 in porthole veranda cabins on Apex. Absolutely NO problem sitting with the chair facing forward. If you don't like fine, but don't post information that is erroneous since you state that you "have seen", not actually stayed in. The cabins aren't dark either, another rumor I've read about porthole veranda cabins.
  13. Thanks for bringing us along! Hope your travel home was uneventful and Merida was happy to see her mom. We made it unscathed through 15 inches of rain in south Tampa Bay. Looking forward to ABCs in a few weeks!
  14. It is a happy hour, available daily from 5-7 with no limit on drinks. The drinks are from a specific happy hour menu, and available in most but not all bars, and not in the dining rooms/restaurants. You can also get bottled water and canned sodas. On a couple of nights during the cruise there many be a happy hour gathering in a specific location/lounge.
  15. That pic was on our stateroom hallway on the Ascent TA in April and it was my favorite!
  16. We ate there and loved it when we were staying at Hampton Inn, but that was probably 2018.
  17. Captain Kate - Beyond Captain Tasos - Ascent Feel fortunate to cruise on both ships with each of these two captains this year. Not a captain groupie, but these two give their ships a welcoming and enthusiastic vibe. Different vibe on Apex in January.
  18. Have a good flight! Tks for some taking us along on your cruise!
  19. Have a great cruise! We're on same cruise in August and have stayed at same hotel pre-cruise.
  20. Happy birthday Charla! Have a wonderful time celebrating! 🎂🍹🍷💐👜
  21. The Spa Cafe has avocado toast for breakfast, OVC has smoked salmon every morning, and once each cruise OVC has three or four varieties of gravlax at lunch (at least on E class).
  22. ABC cruise is our favorite and we go in August. Love pig beach in Curacao; great snorkeling, pigs and craft beer bar. Best snorkeling is in Bonaire, we usually get a resort day pass to lounge and snorkel. In Aruba we've gone to the beach by bus, also did private excursion catamaran snorkel which we'll probably do again. And we always wander a bit at each port.
  23. Ah, okay that's Eden. Not officially a library, I doubt there is that intent on E class. Of course up to individual interpretation.
  24. When we were on Apex in January there was huge shrimp every lunch in OVC. On Ascent TA in April, only shrimp on last day in OVC for seafood extravaganza which included mussels and crawfish (which I tried for first time and thought they tasted like swamp -- JIMHO).
