janny444 Posted September 10 #1 Share Posted September 10 I know that dogs are allowed on Transatlantic cruises but wonder what the " rules" are regarding them. Are they allowed all over the ship...lounges...dining rooms....cabins at any time or are they mainly in the kennel area with limited time allowed out for exercise and even then within a restricted area(s) ? TheOldBear Posted September 10 #2 Share Posted September 10 There are three categories of dogs Guide Dogs - e.g. seeing eye dogs - go everywhere their person goes. The ship makes any needed accommodations. Service Dogs - diabetic blood sugar; seizure alert - may have _some_ restrictions imposed by the ship. These dogs have a 'rest room' facility, typically in a deck 1 tender lounge. Pets - Kennel only [back in 2017 some 'diamond' status dogs were brought to the world club party for photos]
IB2 Posted September 11 #3 Share Posted September 11 (edited) The questions about the kennels are all answered in detail on the other thread (old, but recently added to) or by the article, photos and comments below it on the Cruisemaven website. Basically, it’s the latter - not allowed all over the ship. Cunard used to be very strict on only allowing properly trained and certified service/assistance dogs elsewhere on the ship, but since the pandemic they seem to have become more lax and accepted at least a few of the ‘fake’ service/support dog scams that so many owners get away with in the US itself.
