Liberty of the Seas, 26 Sept 2024: Semi-Live or Not ... Times-a-changing, perhaps. Return to RCL after 10+ years

We set sail for Portland a few minutes earlier than 9 PM with all onboard ... and, there are crew members rotation here, reporting with paperwork.

GigSky signal is back, was not able to reconnect when we left Boston and T-Mobile/Google Fi signal was no longer usable at sea.

Menus ...

The ones from Cunard are nicer and no charge.

Some may be interested to know how long the outage is between when you lose land-based cell and the time the ship cell tower goes live.

Jewel of the Seas also here, ship has come to a full stop. Gangway being set-up but not cleared for the 1,000 yards dash to go ashore.  With 3 ships, we have the longest walk.  The crowd has already lined up for the race.

On the hunt for lobster & seafood, checking out all the Portland specials

I am so jealous. That all looks great.

In Portland I went to Eventide Oyster Company for the brown butter lobster roll and then to Duckfat for the duck fat fries and a salad (because of course I have to eat healthy 😅). And yes, I ate twice for lunch.

Enjoy your lobster feast.

Until next time, heading back to walk off those lunch calories ... bye, Nassau.  Oops, I meant Portland, Maine

Bar Harbor, Maine tourism info  - most likely un-needed on future ship cruises, however.

With today's port schedule, we gave up trying to get back in time for our 5 PM early dining.

What the heck, might as well check out the Lido / buffet

How does these compare against NCL's Garden Cafe / buffet options & choices - CC' ers can decide for themselves. Maybe it's just a Prima thing only, I dunno 🙄🤔

The buffets on the NCL Breakaway and Breakaway+ class ships have great variety. The smaller buffets on the Prima class ships are definitely more limited, and that is on top of the hand to hand combat for seating on a sea day. Indulge Food Hall for the win.

However, nothing I've seen so far matches the Princess buffets on the Discovery or on the Princess ships which YVRteacher recently posted.

The NCL fleet has become fancy and is beginning to move from Lipton to Bigelow. You can find scones during "afternoon tea" but authentic clotted cream remains a sore point for me.

It's E311, Canadian Customs Declaration Form completion time, just received this ... placed on our bed as we return to the cabins.  Will have 2 to 3 hours to fill it out and turn them into our steward for collection.  Folks still out on shorex will have less time, especially if they have early dining time, with all abroad by 5:30 PM and sail at 6 PM.

PXL_20240928_194109604.thumb.jpg.86424a49c198b2f444c74cacfcb7f71c.jpg

Royal could've distributed this a day earlier, to give passengers more time to leisurely fill it out & sign them.

Tonight, we also fast forward ship time by 1 hour to Atlantic Time Zone at 2 AM, turning it to 3 AM.

Laundry Special "deal" at $35 fill a paper bag special, about the same size as NCL's - maybe slightly taller/longer.
