coordinator23 Posted September 26 #1 Share Posted September 26 I understand having an 18 % gratuity added on to my lunch bill at Chops, but adding a sales tax?? Who gets the sales tax? There is no “state”, “county”, or “state” entity on board that I’m aware of. What in the world is going on here?

neverbeenhere Posted September 26 #3 Share Posted September 26 If you are in port and perhaps state waters, sales tax is charged on purchases.

Agree with above - could depend on area of jurisdiction where you were sailing. Did you ask why on board?

Depends when the ship leaves the port. There is tax if the ship hasnt reached international waters as I found out. I agree, it's a penalty. 2nd time i asked them to hold up ringing up my dinner and they held it back until after we set sail. We left the port late, not my fault. Ask and they mkght and can get around it. Edited September 28 by firefly333
