I wonder if many of you do these types of posts. I have always photographed the workers because they strived so hard to please customers. I don’t think I posted many. This cruise I am because.., well.. I am! Feels kinda wierd, like a fettish 😉

Actually, a friend did a series on Facebook recently, posting various crew. There’s a group called Crystal Society Family. She posted a photo, similar to some of yours (think smiling face) and then gave a little description. Several other past cruisers would comment. She did these from her cruise on Symphony, so none of the crew will overlap with yours.

This is my first visit back to Cruise Critic for about four days, as we lost power during Milton and got it back yesterday. Doing catch-up all day today, among other things.

This is so much fun! Keep enjoying, and posting when possible. Loved your original thought about stabilizers (does the ship have them!!!???). Your trip to the bridge produced great photos and write-up for us.

That’s my long version of saying, thank you so much for this thread! I completely “get” your various reasons for doing it.

Dear May B (love your ‘handle’ :-):

thank you for your nice note. I have family who also list power, and know the whole nightmare you’ve all been through these last weeks has got to be brutal. I feel guilty….. A little.

Yes! The stabilizers are in my photos of photos in my post about the bridge. They look like straight red bars pointing out the sides of the hull. Do you see them?

I was given some explanation about what does what, but admit my technical memory skills are seriously lacking. All I can say with certainty is they exist, and were deployed today!

You are so kind to keep me motivated. It is formal night and I could not fit into my tux, and this may explain why I’m on a posting rampage.

i did bring many nice suits and jackets, and will don something and venture out to take in the night with our fellow cruisers.

cheers May B!

I’m in Stardust. There is a one-seating-per-cruise dinner show, so I’d say this is the Platinum option I was too late, ignorant, and Ill-equipped to snag a seat (I’m actually seated, but alone and after the real customers.)

Honestly, this is a supply and demand example I relish in exclusivity and rites of passage. I hope, and suspect, most here are longtime regulars who are in the know and knowledge is power.

Plenty to dine elsewhere. I’m soaking up the beauty and sounds of this room. Simply superb!

The chocolates look just as lovely as I remember them. I love them as well as DH, but he grabs them and squirrels them away until we get home - we extend our cruise with nightly goodies for a few weeks. I'm enjoying your commentary, and with only about 4 weeks till embarkation, I am getting very excited. Today a suitcase appeared for advanced prep.😎 We haven't been aboard since the 2020 WC when Covid reared its ugly head!

Muriel, I hope all is well outside of the power issues. Our area is still without power everywhere from Helene!

Moving right along, I am hungry.

And so… I am here:

IMG_7704.thumb.jpeg.a21f0e30478305e3712630610873036f.jpeg

I am fortunate enough to be under the supreme power of Sergio, from Ukraine.

Sergio doesn’t mess around. He’s. Direct, fast, but ultra-well-versed in the culinary experiential process. In other words, he’s no BS!

a plate from the Chef I do not know how to describe but photographed, along with a wonderful Insalata Caprese with three different colored tomatoes.

i tied the Cioppino which was dramatically served by Sergio. So zesty and flavorful.

sergio wanted me to try two small pasta dishes: Chicche di Patate con Porcini e Liquirizia—a light potato Gnochi with mushroom ragout. Sumptuous.

Next, one (of two served) Tortello di Ricotta a Pera—Yummy tortellini with pecorino and pear! Whoa!

@olindacat I'm so pleased to read your thoughts and observations offering a different approach to "Live From" reviews!  I'm also reading the posts from your co-cruiser @Tyler919 who is onboard with 5 others, and they are also honoring his late father. It's a nice variety of information for those of us not sailing at the moment!

Oh geez.....just saw the meal pictures above so I think it's time for dinner now! 😉

Thank you for this thread and have a wonderful evening!

The people make the experience art. We interact in either symphonies or travesties. Today luck was my lady and Sergio’s prim, speedy, formally proper, yet ingenious way of twisting in spirals or humor made dinner at the line’s namesake key shareholder that much more special.

I did not photograph Sergio as he had much ado and I wanted to leave him be.

The letter asking how we will go arrived tonight. Made me sad, but appreciative of all I’m so fortunate to be enjoying.

a very helpful and kind man named Bruno, from Brazil, took the completed document from my hands….

im parked at the Crystal Cove bar watching the sea speed by with sentiment running through my veins….

Leandro is the pianist and the song touches my heart.IMG_7717.thumb.jpeg.99ed3afb78efa849e15e6678c6580c88.jpegIMG_7719.thumb.jpeg.e54ec090ef72241281e82fac891c43d0.jpeg

Tonight Tonight from West Side Story sticks in my mind from tonight’s performance with the main show. The dancers were hitting their marks as the performers they are..

Young Luka was here when I first arrived onboard. I was sure-groggy and frankly doing little to improve myself. Luka was my buddy, and continued his cheer tonight, relentlessly much to my cheer and benefit….

My dear friend Oleksandwr has faithfully supported and renewed my vodka and sodas this evening at Crystal Cove. (He thinks my penchant for single malts favorable….)

Helene was monstrous. I have a cousin whose sister-in-law Helene terrorizes everybody (or so he says), so I guess we shouldn’t have been surprised. Still, what a horror of a hurricane.

Then along came Milton, and my friend whose dad was named Milton felt extra sadness, to see his dad’s name defiled.

And really, the name is meaningless. The havoc is downright unwelcome, and humbling, all at the same time. Mother Nature truly is heartless, and it’s mostly all random victims.

Fun for you, with the suitcase out!

I did see them! I wasn’t quite sure I could describe what angle I was looking at, but I’m just happy to know they’re there.

I think my very favorite memories at sea are exactly what you describe in Crystal Cove. I took some videos back in 2018-2019 and still return to them when I’m down. Thank you for reviving this memory!

We are in Halifax. The boat is docked. Each time I see myself in the mirror the gym becomes a priority. I go from being super-fit to incredibly awful. I’m like the stock market: up and down but overall continually up!

The gym on this ship is better than I remember on Silversea. Regent had a nice gym. This ship’s gym feels very roomy. I’ve been lucky to find an open treadmill the past two (and only) gym days….

i see the weights, but don’t feel like lifting them. Okay, just a little….IMG_7730.thumb.jpeg.e418a3ef3145787b61124ed8909cef01.jpegIMG_7731.thumb.jpeg.daaaf89e715eb59456bf89acc722c811.jpeg

Very bummed at the Internet as I cannot upload images for some reason, and yesterday could not even log in here.

They had a little dancing in the main lobby for "White Night".

I got all gussied up for the affair, and joined in the festivities. The Palm Court was the venue for drinks, and I had been there several times during the evening. Joined a nice couple for dinner at  Waterside.

I went to the top deck and out onto the pickleball court to just feel a blast of air. When I went down the party was over and the place was empty! Same with Avenue Saloon. Obviously, it was time for bed!

I’ve read that Cruise Critic seems to be having issues. I don’t know what, but perhaps that’s why you’re unable to post photos.

Cruise Critic added a banner today explaining there's an issue with adding photos and videos...  However blaming shipboard wifi is always a safe scapegoat anyway, since we all know that pain well.  😄

Well, there is definitely a problem with CC. I missed the Frans Sinatra show in Palm Court, but am here now enjoying the pianist, and a nice vodka and soda.

i cheated my fast: and my train is off the rails but c’est la vie!

Did pedal the stationary bike for a solid hour, some yoga, and some free weights so ok, bad boy lives!

just tried an upload but they are not going through. We are at sea and captain says we have 35 knots of wind we are sailing into so the vodka will flow.

only a few days left. Age has a way of humbling you, and my body can't take much. I go 'aggressive' on the treadmill for an hour the day we were in Halifax by trying to 'run' (more like jog). Yesterday, in St. John, I decided to try the bike for an hour. Then hit the road but it was brisk and windy.

The shot of the bow was while we were in Halifax.

I stared at the wall as the musicians played beautifully in Crystal Court. I had a nice cappuccino before a glass of champagne that day. Dined at Waterside. Has yet to disappoint!
