3timesthecharm Posted April 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2006 We did the boat blast on our recent trip April 3rd and had a great time. The mini boats are actually pretty fast and they give you time to wave jump with them. The best part came after the snorkeling when you had full run of the beach, including the open bar. KtBarker Posted April 14, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2006 Was it worth it? We did the boat blast and thought it was an awful excursion, and thought the value was around $40. Transporation to Uvero Beach was good. 30-40 minute ride. We got there, and right away signed all the release forms, and got our instructions about the boat/snorkel equipment. The boat ride itself consisted of 2-3 loops next to the shore and then docking at docks set up to snorkel. (The docks were close enough to shore that you could still see the people on the beach.) When we snorkelled we saw 1 fish, and spent the entire time trying to keep our bodies completely horizontal so we wouldn't hit the coral. Took 1 more loop in the boat, and then it was back to shore. As far as snorkeling we did cruise 2 weeks after Wilma, so we chalked up the bad snorkeling to that, although others we talked to said they had good snorkeling in Costa Maya. We were on the 1:30 excursion on Carinval's Miracle and didn't have any time to enjoy the beach because we had to get back to make the boat. One other thing was even though we couldn't find it on the message boards the boat blast was offered privately on the shore for somewhere around $50. Overall it wasn't a horrible time, just not worth the $$ in our opinion. Worst part was we complained to Carnival twice, first time or compliant was never raised to the appropriate party (even though we were told it would be), second time we got a letter basically telling us that we were lying because no one else had complained. bravesgrl Posted April 19, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2006 My husband and I took the excursion two years ago. We were not anticipating the 45 minute bus ride to and from the beach. The power boats were lots of fun and took us out to this great place for snorkeling. While we didn't see alot of fish, we got to see some very beautiful coral. We had a guide to take us around and that was helpful rather than just floating around on our own. The beach was nice, but we didn't have time to enjoy it after snorkeling because the bus was leaving. If you don't mind the 1 1/2 hour roundtrip, this might be your thing! Hope this helps! joy32 Posted April 26, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2006 We just did it early April. It was the worst tour we have ever done. The bus was late to pick us up. When we got to the beach, the previous tour was running late, so we sat for more than an hour for them to get back. Since it was late in the day, the 45 minute boat ride lasted about 5 to 6 minutes, and the 45 minute snorkel was only about 15 minutes. By the time we got back to the beach, everyone else had cleared out. We jumped on the return bus which raced back to the waiting ship. What a waste of money and a day of the vacation. cpayne Posted November 23, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2006 KtBarker - you said this excursion was available through an independent operator for about $50? Where did you find them when you got off the ship? Did this include transportation to/from and the Uvero Beach Break with unlimited drinks OR just the boat blast with snorkel? Princess is charging $179/boat so the $50 sounds much better!
