Gingee Posted April 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2006 Does anyone have any advice on Icy Straight excursions in Alaska? I have looked through the excursions on Royal's site and they don't look too thrilling. Has anyone done any excursions in Icy Straight? Thanks
Rare JSR Posted April 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2006 We are going bear watching with a private guide. He can also arrange a whale watching tour. The bear watching includes an area tour. Max 12 people. The whale watching is max 6 people. They tours are not on his web site but email or give Kieth a call. http://teckkoutfitters.com/
Gingee Posted April 19, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted April 19, 2006 Thanks. I did e-mail them and see what they had to offer. I don't think I want to look for bears. I have heard too many creepy things about bear attacks.
Krazy Kruizers Posted April 19, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2006 We are going to be there twice this summer. The first time we are going whale watching and the second time we will just hit the town and visit with the locals.

It's good to know that if a bear should have the gall to attack while we are encroaching on his natural habitat, that we have the fire power to kill him. Yukon Posted April 20, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2006 >>I don't think I want to look for bears. I have heard too many creepy things about bear attacks.<< That's why I never drive on freeways - they are something like 36 times as dangerous as bears!! Oh yeah, and because there are no freeways within 1,000 miles of here :D Seriously, though, the stories about bear attacks are grossly exaggerated - yes, they happen, but rarely. tedjazz Posted April 21, 2006 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2006 Wow, freeways are that dangerous, that's it for me, no more freeways, you'll see me on the side streets from now on. Thanks Yukon.
