Just had a conversation a few minutes ago with a coworker that just came back from a NCL Hawaiian Islands trip. The trip was fine overall, but they were not impressed with NCL.

Their issue was with the staff and the food. Remember, the staff is all US. They didn't have the customer service part down :) The food was not too impressive. again, this is just from talking to her as I have not been on the trip.

He was upset they didn't have a casino, but that probably actually saved him money.

They are comparing this with their prior experience on Royal Caribbean.

Either way, it is a cruise so enjoy!

My mother went on the Norwegian Hawaii cruise and loved it. She was disappointed to find out there was no casino since that's her main on-board entertainment, but otherwise she loved it. She had only RCCL cruises to compare it to (which she didn't care for very much).

If the anytime dining appeals to you, you'll probably have a great time. That was her favorite part of the whole cruise I think (not counting the actual ports).

If the casino is a big deal to you, I would carefully rethink Norwegian. If it's not, I say give it a try. If you don't like it, there's an excuse to take another Hawaii trip. How bad could that be? :D

I dont even go in the casino...so i am not worried about that..but i am reading about terrible service and terrible food...that worries me....but i do like the amount of stops there is on the cruise..as i was thinking of doing two of the cruises back to back and not getting off the ship....

I don't think you can really compare the two cruises as they really are so different.

Kids, pretty much a guarantee of warm weather and more stops in the islands, go NCL. You will (in my opinion) give up some service and quality but you also won't spend 8 days back and forth across the Pacific.

We sailed a short NCL cruise and found we can have fun anywhere. With an open mind and Hawaii i doubt you will 'hate" anything.
