what airline does celebrity use? anyone have experience with this. how bad were the flights they put you on?

celebrity buys in bulk. they use the airlines with the lowest price, flights and connections are variable. however la to rome will probably result in fairly decent flights. dont worry about charters, some of my best over ocean flights have been on world airways. you can customize flights for $50 or free if captains club.

Why would you be using Celebrity air to Rome when you can do it yourself for 1/2 the $$???

We have friends who booked through X for airline tickets. My wife and I booked direct with the airline. We were on the same flight and paid almost $100 less per person.

 

There are some advantages of booking airfare with a cruise line but my way of thinking that the difference in costs far outweigh any advantage.

I also agree to try to book your own air. When we first booked our 8/25/06 Galaxy Med cruise I booked with air and air insurance through X, knowing that I would be able to cancel the air if I found something less expensive. I was able to find flights on AA from LAX to FCO for over $100/per person cheaper. I was also able to purchase travel insurance through AA which was much less expensive that what we had through X. I know that there are some advantages of booking air and transfers with the cruise line, but I also agree with "Fang" that the difference in costgs far outweigh any advantage.
