Cape Liberty Hotels

This questioned has been asked many times...if you do a search for Cape Liberty you will find a lot of answers...but bottom line is that Cape Liberty is located in a very remote area..there are no hotels close by...the closest would be the Hyatt and Marriott in Jersey City...but these would still require some transportation to the pier... the plus about these hotelsis that they are only a short train ride into NYC...

you could stay by newark airport. we stayed at the courtyard newark/elizabeth by jersey gardens last weekend. the cab ride (a town car actually ) was 40.00 plus tip. coming back today we were waiting for a cab and a driver said, you can take my limo for the same price...ok...40.00 for a limo?? he pulls up in a stretch!! woo hoo!

there are a lot of hotels......i would stick with these as they are a bit newer and easier to get to...plus they are near an outlet mall and a ruby tuesday restaurant:

all are newark/elizabeth and the addresses should be glimcher realty way:

marriott courtyard

marriott residence inn

country inn and suites

extended stay america (would be my last choice)

actually the hotels are at newark airport are not new. The hotels in Jersey City are very new and the cab ride will probably be no more than $20.00. This is not to say that the hotels in Newark are bad its just that the Jersey City hotels are newer and closer to the port...there is also very easy access to NYC from the Jersey City hotels...

We're staying here:

Shuttle service to and from the piers, plus leaving the car at the hotel for the duration. $195 for a room for the night before the cruise, total package includes FULL breakfast in the am before departing for the ship via their shuttle.

We're actually going up there TWO days before our cruise because we want to tour NYC for at least one complete day. We'll drive just a couple of miles to Penn Station in NJ which takes us over to Battery Park area in NYC. From there, we'll do the ferry to Liberty Island and also Ellis. Then, we'll check out the city and plan on being back before sunset to get prepped for the next day.

Actually, to see the statue of liberty and ellis island you would be better off going to Liberty State park in Jersey City to get the ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty...its only about a 10 minute drive to the park via the NJ TPKE extension (exit 14 B). The ferry ride is much shorter and you'll closer view of the statue...In addition, the PATH station that you are referinng to (old WTC stop) is about a 1/2 hour walk to the ferry at battery park

If you want to stay in Newark Airport and take the PATH train in lieu of driving to penn station you could take the airport monorail to the airport station and switch to a NJ Transit train. This would give you the option of going to Penn Station Newark where you can switch to the PATH train to WTC or go directly to Penn Station NY.....

IMHO...having grown up in the area I would stay in downtown Jersey City ad its literally only a 5 minute ride on the PAth train to downtown NY and 10-15 minutes to mid town... and I would park at the pier at 15.00 a day.
