DP Posted May 23, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2004 I have had some good wine in Istanbul but this cruise am not going there but instead to Kusadasi. I would like to purchase wine to take onboard and yes my ship allows it. Has anyone had any experience with ourchasing wine and if so within distance of port. 4 cruisers Posted May 23, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2004 Never had a Turkish wine I didn't enjoy! I can't think of a place to get wine in Kusadasi, though... Maybe I just missed it...hopefully someone else will be able to advise you! I know where to get great leather jackets, though! Rare Hlitner Posted May 23, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2004 I never bought wine in Kusadasi, but we have vistied this port on 3 ocassions. I can tell you that all the shopping is within easy walking distance of the ship. There are a few shops at the port, and the main shopping areas and outdoor bazaar start just across the street from the pier. Hank
catandave Posted May 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2004 Hank is correct about the shops being close. We actually visited a wine/liquor/beer store in Kusadasi. Let me try and describe where we found it. From the pier turn left at the main seafront road, walk down 100 maybe 200 yards then turn sharp right up a fairly major side street. This street leads to the suq. The wine shop was on the right hand side. Hank is correct - Certainly easy walking distance.

Cruise Miriam Posted May 25, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 25, 2004 It has been a few years since I was in Kusadasi, but you may also be able to purchase wine on a local street behind the main shopping area. I bought some wine in Kusadasi, just can't remember where. There's also a great local restaurant on that street. You can easily get to this street by going between buildings.
