Legal drinking age

We are planning a Christmas cruise with our two daughters ages 22 and 19. We are from Canada where the drinking age in our province is 18. Our younger daughter would like to be able to go to the discos and bars with her older sister as she does at home. I have heard the cruise lines won't let the teenagers into bars unless they are 21. Is this true? If so is there anyway to overcome this?

You asked if the kids can go into bar or lounges. (not about drinking) I am pretty sure that your daughters can go to the bar /lounges even without drinking.. I know my boys did. This was on both Carnival and Royal. To get served drinks they would have to be the age appropriate of the cruise lines.

On Alaska and Hawaii cruises, the legal drinking age on board and at port is 21, no matter what the line. (I know you aren't doing an Alaska cruise over Christmas, though!) I think the age for going into discos is 18 on ships, but bars and casinos may have different age requirements, depending on the cruise line.
