Worse than chair hogs

are those that hover over you just waiting and hoping that you leave. Don't even think about getting up and stretching unless you have a whole host of stuff to leave on your chair, cause it will be whipped away from under you before your arms are extended all the way over your head!!!

This past week on the Glory the chair thieves were unbelievable, my child went off to swim and left her towel on her chair between myself and my husband. A confrontational older lady demanded her rights to the chair.

Also just as bad are these people that travel in huge packs and add more and more chairs to their group, and end up shoving their chairs right into yours and give you no route to escape!!!!

You also have those people in the casino who don't gamble or have lost their money.....sitting at machines, taking up space while they wait on their friends or whatever. Play the machine or move...... so somebody else can win or lose their money. :D

This reminds me of folks at the grocery store that stark you like "Jaws" as you walk to your car, then sit there as you unload your groceries and blow the horn if they don't think you are unloading them quickly enough.

Warning, at the last horn blower, I finished unloading my groceries and then locked my car and walked back into the store. (it was only for a minute...but the point was made)

People actually honk in Memphis to get you to get out of your parking spot more quickly?

Sounds more like Miami or Philly to me.

If everyone assumes that everyone else is a chair hog, then everyone will be rude to everyone who is not currently occupying their chair.

We were on the Conquest and a woman was playing a slot machine and had her 4 kids lined up on the machines next to her, they were just sitting taking up space in a place they should not have been in, in the first place.

I have totally given up on trying to find a chair by the pool, i just take a dip and leave the area now.

Don't give up... When I was on the Pride I just went to the Poseiden deck (aft) that's the adult area. There were plenty of chairs. The first day was a little crowded but by the second so many were sunburned that they avoided the sun. LOL. Of course the f deck usually has plenty of room. :p

Of course they can. I have read several postings where the parents paid alot of money for their child to cruise and their child should be allowed to do whatever they want to.

I was on the Pride in May 2004 and did not have any trouble finding a chair in the pool area.

Ok, can I ask a question? What is the proper way to get a chair if you dared to sleep in and don't get outside till after 10am. I don't want to be outside all day long but would love to have a few hours relaxing in the sun. I have an inside cabin so this will be my best chance to get any sun. I am a very shy person and don't want to offend anyone by sitting in a chair that is "truly" occupied.

If you find a chair with stuff in it, but no people, ask the people in the chairs nearby how long the chair has been humanless. If more than 30 minutes, put the stuff under the chair and enjoy yourself.

Going back to the OP, with chairs at such a premium, why wouldn't you give up your kid's chair to an older person? That would be simple common courtesy. My observation is that kids rarely use the chairs anyway. It's not like you brought your own chair on the ship.

Of course they can, Carnival doesn't enforce there rules.;)
Well, that's where I draw the line. I would never bring young children in a place where there is gambling, drinking & smoking. If I couldn't afford a sitter, I just wouldn't go! But that is just me.

Bravo! that was exactly the point i was trying to make.

I don't care how much i pay for my 12 year old to cruise, yes it is her vacation also BUT she is still not allowed in the bars, casino, adult shows or F-deck and never to run around the ship unattended.

If more parents understood this, everyone would have a more pleasant vacation.

Philly gal here and while I agree with a lot of criticism about my city but.. I've never been honked at for my parking space at a supermarket or at a mall. I've been followed back to my car at a mall for a parking space and when I've had lots of bags and kids, I've indicated I'm sorry and usually gotten a "take your time", a laugh or some other understanding comment, never a beep.

In all of our many years of cruising we have never had a problem finding a chair. Of course it might not be in the most desireable location but, if just sitting on the deck is your objective, you can most certainly find a chair on any ship if you look hard enough.

Amazing that "we", as adults, will attempt to do something if someone doesn't enforce the rules.

Reminds me of kindergarten.

I have been on several crusies and have never not been able to find a chair and a spot. I hate a salt water pool so being right next to it is not a prioty for me and my better half. Matter of a fact I love to check out different decks and views. Sun and Shade,, open or enclosed.. Just let it go and enjoy what is available......

I wish you & your child were on all my cruises!
