Favorite Hotel in San Juan, PR

Try looking at this one. It is in the Condado area of San Juan between the airport and the Pan American pier. It is a beautiful hotel right on the water with restaurants, shops, a beach and pool.

This is where I am booked in 3 weeks. :D

I have stayed at the El San Juan three times, including last week. The hotel is still wonderful, but pricey. The pool area is so beautiful and quiet, it is hard to believe you are next to the airport and in the city. The hotel is undergoing renovations but this is soon to be completed.

Have a wonderful time!!

We've stayed at the Ritz Carlton 3 times pre-cruise and will be staying there again prior to our 3/29/08 Crown sailing. It's been fantastic everytime and we love it there.

How far is the ritz from the piers in old san juan

I want to say it took us maybe 15 to 20 minutes to get to the Pier 4 in Old San Juan. The Ritz is about a 3-5 minute ride from the airport, it's just off airport property.

It's a beautiful hotel and we'll be staying there for our 4th time next Spring.

Bumping for another suggestion.

Fiance and I are sailing out of PR in November for honeymoon. We are looking to turn in points for our room the night before. We won't be spending a lot of time in the room, so we're going mid range for our points.

Any information on the Courtyard by Marriott San Juan Isla Verde or Hampton Inn & Suites San Juan?

We want something not too noisy, but near some good restaurants and possibly a drug store.

I stayed here two nights in January 08 prior to a cruise. I highly recommend it with several comments:

1) If you are looking for a full service hotel this is not it. It's basic, clean, and actually in excellent shape. For an economical, comfortable, clean bed the night before a cruise, it's perfect.

2) Lot's of cruisers were staying here. I think the entire hotel checked out the morning we left. This will mean that the breakfast room will be packed and there will be LOTS of folks leaving late morning. Adjust your plans accordingly and you shouldn't have any problems.

3) Elevators are small and one was out of service on my visit. So many people were leaving in the morning that getting an elevator from the upper floors was next to impossible at peak time. See #2 above. Request a lower floor and use the stairs or adjust.

4) Be sure you are booking the Holiday Inn Express in Condado..NOT the Holiday Inn in Isle Verde. The locals and cab drivers seem to confuse the two.

Restaurants are numerous in walking distance. The beach is very close. For the money I paid, versus the other options available, I felt this was a VERY good deal. Any concessions I made re: full service or resort hotel were well worth the lower rate.
