Disneycruiser#1 Posted July 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2004 Going to St. Thomas end of August. On this cruise it will be just my husband and myself. Can you go to St. Johns on our own or should we book an excursion through the ship (Princess) which we try never to do bc we like to things on our own. Or should we stay in St. Thomas and just take a taxi to Megan's Bay? Thanks!
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2004 :) It all depends on how long your ship will be St Thomas. You have to remember that from the ship, you have to take a taxi to Red Hook, then a ferry over to St John and then a taxi to the beach. Watch your time as you need to allow enough time to get back to the ferries, and then back to the ship. Megan's is beautiful. If you don't have a lot of shore time, I would take a taxi to there. But remember that it can be very crowded if there are a lot of ship's in port. :)
harryw Posted July 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2004 We just got back from the Golden Princess cruise - on St. Thomas we took a 20 minute cab ride to the Ritz Carlton - beautiful beach on the Bay..we tipped the beach attendant and were allowed to sit on comfy lounge chairs with umbrellas..even given fruit treats in the afternoon...ate lunch at deck restaurant a few yards away..we told him we were visitors and told it was OK...this was recommended by a CC post..we e-mailed the hotel in advance and they said it was OK to visit.. jean-lynd Posted July 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2004 It is very easy to go to St. John on your own. The last time we were there we spent a couple of hours at Trunk Bay and then headed over to Cinnamon Bay for a few more hours before heading back to the ship. It was a wonderful day. We did try to get off of the ship as soon as we could in the morning but we still had time to do some shopping at the pier before getting back on board. I hope this helps! pandabebe Posted July 15, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Would you have any information on how long it took for you to get to Trunk Bay and approximately how much it cost for the taxi rides and ferry? Thanks.
