Bowlersbus Posted September 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2006 Ok, I used the search and found 325 posts that did not pertain to my question. So here it goes. Are the Cabin doors on the Mariner of the Seas metal? Was thinking about buying Cruise Critic Magnets for our group.......
KandMGIn Posted September 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2006 From what I understand and what was on the AOS..yes, but they are then coated in some sort of a substance. Magnets did go on our door...but if they were small weak magnets, they would fall off if the door easily.
sanditoes4 Posted September 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2006 the doors are metal, but do have a panel on them and it was textured...I don't think magnets would stick, not only because of the door itself but the doors slam behind you if you don't hold them and close it, they would often fall off I think??? Make signs and tape them on, unfortunately they tend to get taken by other people, and a cheap copied paper sign wouldn't make me as mad as nicer $5 magnets when they come up missing!!! Just a thought??? good luck, and you will love this ship!!!!
Bowlersbus Posted September 6, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted September 6, 2006 hhhmmm...interesting. I wonder of those Magnet sheets that you get at Michael's or Rag Shop are strong enough. Thanks for your advice
wraithe Posted September 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2006 I stuck my CC door sign on my door on the Mariner with a magnet and it held just fine. Granted it was a strong magnet, one of the magnetic clips that they sell in the ship's store, but it held just fine,
Rare RobInMN Posted September 8, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2006 I purchased magnetic Ink Jet sheets at Office depot and printed out some 40th Anniversary graphics for my in-laws. For the most part, they worked fine. A couple were stolen, and a couple of the thinner ones did not seem to stick as well as the large ones. Since the door is not compleately flat and has sort of a molded "panel" type design, there are some issues with placement for good adhesion. The larger ones had no problem staying put even with the dorr slamming shut. -- Rob
Merion_Mom Posted September 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 9, 2006 I haven't been on the Mariner, but I've been on several other RC ships. I have had no difficulty with cheap, thin, business-card magnets sticking to the door. They held my notes quite well.
