wskon Posted October 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2006 Could someone please tell me what the Thermal Suite is. I have heard several comments about it but do not know what it is. Does the Volendam have this. I hate to sound ignorant. I have sailed HAL three times and never seen this. Thanks, Sandy
LHC Posted October 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2006 This is an area off the spa that has a whirlpool, 4 tile heated reclining chairs, an aromatic shower, plus two steam rooms, a two seater and a multi-seater. It has wonderful glass windows for viewing the ocean and a cold water fountain to keep hydrated. I love this area. They only sell a few passes each voyage. Linda Can this be purchased before the cruise or do you have to wait until you board. It sounds wonderful. Do you purchase the use for the whole cruise or just by the day?? Atomica Posted October 2, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2006 You do have to wait until you board in order to purchase a thermal suite pass. Sometimes if you take the Spa Tour on embarkation day they'll give you a deal. You can purchase it either for just one day or for the whole cruise. I'd recommend doing it for the entire trip, as after one time you're likely to want to do it every day!
LHC Posted October 2, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 2, 2006 You do have to pay on board but these are the fares: 7 days day pass is 15. cruise pass is 89. Couple pass is 150. 10 days day pass is 15. cruise pass is 119. couples cruise pass is 199. I absolutely adored this suite and plan on purchasing it again in December. wskon Posted October 2, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted October 2, 2006 I have another question? Does this include the Theraphy pool or is that extra? I know it has a fancier name but I can't spell it!!!!!
LHC Posted October 2, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2006 Not sure how to spell it but the hot tub/ Thasso pool is in the suite. As for which ships, I know it is on the Volendam and the Zaandam. Linda
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted October 2, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 2, 2006 When we sailed on the Veendam last week I used it our last sea day on Wednesday and to my amazement with the exception of one lady that came in for about 30 minutes I had the whole thing to myself for 3 1/2 hours. I had brought my book and just enjoyed reading on the heated ceramic chairs. Then I would get into the Thasso pool, then go into the fragranted misted shower, then go and sit in the Sauna, then shower in the mist again. Then go lay and read for a while, then repeat the above. It was heaven:)
Sprocket Posted October 2, 2006 #11 Share Posted October 2, 2006 Lisa, it sounds wonderful.. Maybe I'll invest in that instead of the casino;) When I was on the Zuiderdam one of my table mates had bought the week long package and she loved it. Any time I went through there it did not seem to be very busy. Think I'll do the spa tour as well and see if they are offering any deals on it. Thanks. LHC Posted October 4, 2006 #13 Share Posted October 4, 2006 Sparky 56 you can call customer service in Seattle and they will know for sure, but I think all of the boats got them with the upgrades. Linda

AlohaPride Posted October 5, 2006 #16 Share Posted October 5, 2006 So, I saw the prices for 7 and 10 day cruises...what about 12 and 14 day cruises?
juliecat Posted October 5, 2006 #17 Share Posted October 5, 2006 I really enjoyed the Thermal suite on the OOsterdam but found the Statendam's version a disappointment. The loungers look out over a public deck rather than directly over the sea and it didn't have the lovely turkish baths. The price was $40 per day, much more than the Oosterdam last spring. They were offering a package of 28 days for $800! Julia
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted October 5, 2006 #18 Share Posted October 5, 2006 I have never been on the Statendam but I would assume it is the same as the Ryndam and Veendam. I spent a very relaxing day a week ago today in the Thermal Suite on the Veendam. The cost was $20.00 per day. I spent several hours laying on the ceramic heated lounger reading and just staring out at the sea. Kept hoping I would see some whales but did not. While I like the Oosterdam Thermal Suite a lot, I find the ones on the Ryndam and Veendam to be a bit more intimate. Plus not such a pain to gather your items to go into the Hydrotherapy Pool. On the smaller ships they are all in one room. I also believe that occasionally they charge two fees on the Vista Class ships. One for the Thermal Suite and one for Hydrotherapy Pool.
