Cost for Taxi to the Cruise Ship

I have been seeing people refer to the cost of a taxi to the crusie ship terminal as being high and a ripoff.

 

We will be staying in the French Quarter area. How much will it cost for 3 people with luggage?

 

Is there a cheaper way to get there?

Cab fare from the airport to CBD (which should include cruise ship terminal) is a flat rate of 28 USD (+ 1 USD fuel surcharge). For alternatives (Airport Shuttle) see

As far as I remember there were stickers on the cab windows showing the current rates and flat rates.

I think it is about $7 per person, maybe a tad higher.

The thing about the taxis is that they charge a flat rate to the port whether your hotel is across the street or a mile away (more if you are outside of downtown). They justify by the amount of luggage people haul along.

 

Last year it was $10 for 1 person or $8pp for 2 or more so i would say $24 for 3 people. Coming from the French Quarter, the price isn't as bad as a hotel across the street where you can see the ship.

 

It is probably your best bet unless your hotel runs a shuttle (most don't). But if it has any kind of shuttle, you might ask what kind of bride it would take for them to drop you off.

Do they charge more for going from the airport to the peir?

I'm thinkin about sticking with a limo, I think it was under 40 bucks for two people, but I'm pricing out the options.

I don't know if you will have a private limo for under $40, but maybe - they may wait to fill it up or at least for more people.

I don't know if these people are open are not, but last year cruisers seemed to like their parking services. Might contact them to see how much they want for various services.
