Aussie Gal Posted June 5, 2004 #26 Share Posted June 5, 2004 Jazzdog I feel that the Hotel probably isn't full in August, due to heat etc. therefore you have been lucky and scored the lower rate. We are staying over a weekend in October, so that could be the difference. We not only qualify for Seniors rate but we are also members of the Best Western Gold Crown Club. We are booked in at a 4 star in a better position for not much more than the 250Euros, so at the moment we are leaving our booking there. We cannot ring the 1800 number as we are not from the U.S. Jennie The next cruise is always the best! 3RD OCTOBER, 2004 PRINSENDAM

Once I emailed the hotel, asking about some arrangements however, they were confused about us having already booked and were offering us a much higher rate. jsh Posted June 6, 2004 #29 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Am I understanding correctly that there are private water taxis waiting at the cruise dock to transport passengers to a hotel's private dock. If so, is there usually a long wait to get one? Thank you.
dondiane Posted June 6, 2004 #30 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Spent 3 nights in a lovely hotel right on the Grand Canal. They are foot steps off the Vaparetto stop of St. Angelo. They also have their own dock. Orbiz is offering a "run of house" room currently at about 220 E. We had this booking in May 2004. Our room was large and terrific. A/C. Marble bathroom with double sink and hydrojet tub with shower. Very nice buffet breakfast. We used a water taxi from the airport to the hotel about but the vaperetto would have been fine. There are no steps from the vaperetto stop to the hotel about 30ft away. We found Venice to be fairly pricey but oh so magical. Enjoy

Aussie Gal Posted June 24, 2004 #33 Share Posted June 24, 2004 Cruise Junky I finally received an email back from Portabagli re despatching luggage to our hotel from the ship. They will charge 7.70Euros per case to the Metropole Hotel. This seems a very good rate but I wonder how safe it is. Jennie

joan24 Posted May 31, 2005 #35 Share Posted May 31, 2005 We took a water taxi from the airport to Locanda Orseolo on May 5th. Before you get into the water taxi, make sure that they are willing to take you to the hotel. There was no one waiting for a water taxi, but they insisted that they'd only be able to take us to San Marco. Igor at Locanda Orseolo had warned us in advance that the drivers may try this and suggested that we have them call the hotel, which we did. Francesco spoke to the driver and convinced him to take us. The ride was great and when we arrived, Barbara, Mateo, and Francesco were waiting at the "water window" to help us in. What a treat you're in for staying at Locanda Orseolo. We stayed for 4 nights in May, and would never stay elsewhere. Have fun. Joan
