Zuider standard outside rooms question

You may be looking at the picture for a balcony cabin. HAL's picture shows a standard window:

On any modern cruise ship, no outside cabin windows open. The only way to get fresh air without leaving your room is to book a balcony cabin.

Perhaps you are looking at Upper Promenade Deck which has floor to ceiling windows which are the same size as sliding doors. These do not open and most of these cabins have obstructed views.

 

On Main Deck, the cabins have normal outside windows and have no obstructions.

The windows you are probably referring to are - they have two panes. They look like sliders, but they are not.
