Caliber1 Posted April 27, 2007 #76 Share Posted April 27, 2007 Wow! This thread, with the pictures, is getting me even more excited about our cruise in a few weeks. I didn't know what cabin to book (was actually looking at 9A 7299) but thankfully my TA did; she suggested an aft wrap and called Carnival to make the reservation. She talked to them about what was available and based on her recommendation, we've got 6260 on the Pride. After looking at that picture, I don't care about the size of the overhang - just bring on the balcony!!! :D Yes Ex, the main difference will be the overhang. You lose a little floor space due to the fact that the rail is angled in a little sharper. You'll love the balcony though.:D
Caliber1 Posted April 27, 2007 #77 Share Posted April 27, 2007 Wraps DEFINITELY do spoil you! When I took that picture we also had 4230 (note open balcony divider) - that makes for A LOT of space. We typically have a dozen + CC'ers there during a sea day for wine/drinks - it's a PARTY deck. And we ALWAYS bring our SIRIUS boombox! (we are considerate ;) ) Tom Tom Tom, I see you've been on the Glory. What cat cabin did you have? We have an 11 on the Liberty, and was wondering what the balcony was like. My feet will tuck under there just nicely.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted April 27, 2007 #79 Share Posted April 27, 2007 Tom, I see you've been on the Glory. What cat cabin did you have? We have an 11 on the Liberty, and was wondering what the balcony was like. We have been in both AFT corners on deck 6 (6452 and 6483 - CAT 9A's). We are trying the CAT 12 for the first time on a Conquest class ship (Glory) next month. Tom
vjmatty Posted April 27, 2007 #80 Share Posted April 27, 2007 What we did - heartless as we are - was park the kids in the inside cabin across the hall. I know, a lesser form of child abuse... but it worked for us. Um, my logic is along the same line that says whoever pays the mortgage gets the largest bedroom in the house... I also think whoever pays for the cruise gets the best cabin ;)
baseballdad Posted April 28, 2007 #81 Share Posted April 28, 2007 If "someone says" that deck 6 has a little more overhang, then they are simply WRONG. Deck 4 is the only one with any overhang worth mentioning (on the larger AFT portion). The easiest way to see this is to look at the size of the balcony dividers on the different decks in this photo: If you want SERIOUS OVER-KILL overhang, take a look at the SIDE cabins on deck 8!! Tom Yeah, I got that reversed - the Deck 6 has better sun, the deck 4 has better privacy - "some say"! - But, as I meant to say, I never had a problem getting sun on Deck 4... and never really felt "watched" on Deck 6! So both of those complaints are a bit of a stretch... And I could NEVER understand why anyone would want those Deck 8 side balconies, all the motion and all of the deck chair noise and none of the sun! To point out to a previous poster - 4228 connects inside with 4230 as well... for that group set up you needed. That was the main reason we took Deck 4 this time, actually. ALL those wrap balconies are amazing, as that pic so clearly shows. And when you add the unique cabin layouts, they are the best cabins on the ship. picklebongo Posted April 30, 2007 #82 Share Posted April 30, 2007 What I can't understand though is that with all that serious balcony space, why will the cabin accommodate just two people? This will preclude alot of families being able to use this cabin.
baseballdad Posted April 30, 2007 #83 Share Posted April 30, 2007 Well, several of them do accommodate three. And on Deck 4, they do connect with the aft cabin next door. I am guessing the idea is to get you to buy more than one cabin! It worked on us...
Sirwinston Posted April 30, 2007 #84 Share Posted April 30, 2007 I was booked on a cat 8b for the Pride next March. But seeing how cool the Cat 11 wraps are I just could not resist. I was able to get the port side one on 7 deck (7298?) because we need 3 beds. I figure I have 9 months to save / pay the extra. With the kid in school this may be the only family cruise in 08. Anyway I spoiled the spouse with a cat 12 on the Paradise, a few weeks ago. We are real home bodies so we spend a lot of time in the cabin so it sort of makes sense to spend the extra, and being in Long Beach No air fare. I wonder how many people end up feeding the casino enough that they could have gotten a suite ? Luckily that is not my vice..... The wine/barbill is another matter.;) Tom in Long Beach who gets to see the Paradise and the Pride set sail all of the time:D

Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted May 3, 2007 #93 Share Posted May 3, 2007 Hey Tom! I've got 6452 on the Conquest booked for September. Does the turtle come with? No - but it can be had for ~ $25 in Costa Maya... That is a story all its own. It took THREE trips off the ship to get that turtle (looking at him out on my Lanai right now).. First trip: got off the ship in the BLARING sun and forgot our SHADES (back to our cabin)... Second trip: Found the turtle (which we had seen there MONTHS ago, and I PROMISED we would get it) and agreed on $25... reaching down into pockets= NO CASH.. Third trip: OBTAINED AND HAULED TURTLE back to ship... :D It was a LONG walk with the turtle growing HEAVIER and HEAVIER with each step.... gave up and road the TRAM back the last time...! Ex-Calgarian Posted May 3, 2007 #94 Share Posted May 3, 2007 Tom, If I remember correctly, you posted somewhere that if you could not book 4228, you wouldn't go on the cruise, you would find a sailing date where that suite was available. Question: How did you find go about checking to see if the suite was available? Did you just keep changing sailing dates until you found it open? WeatherGeek Posted May 3, 2007 #96 Share Posted May 3, 2007 Hello, please tell me which are the warp balconies on the triumph? do any sleep 4? thanks! A warp balcony would be too cool for school. I'd warp everywhere. I think the wrap balconies on the Triumph are the Category 9A cabins. Check them out on the ship layout on Carnival's website. SEVERAL months out we will look at a few dates - from there I call 1-800-CARNIVA and start at the top of my list. For the record, 4237 will do nicely too! :D Tom

With DH's work schedule, that just doesn't seem to happen! Guess I will have to work on the fate and destiny angle to make sure I get a good cabin on future cruises. :p

With DH's work schedule, that just doesn't seem to happen! Guess I will have to work on the fate and destiny angle to make sure I get a good cabin on future cruises. :p I know the feeling! We just booked 4237 on the Legend earlier this week. I had no choice but to snatch it up because it was the last one left and we really wanted it - this may be the last cruise we go on for the next 18 years. :D There's a good chance my husband may get reassigned to a new base within the next 6 months though, which means a very good chance we'd have to cancel the cruise. But I'd rather take that risk than not take it! Besides, we'll definitely know by the time final payment is due whether we'd need to cancel it or not.
