Money won at casino

So, what is the most anyone has won on a ship casino? I seem to do well in Vegas and AC - but I always leave all my money behind on the ships. Is it just me?

Kathy

ps I'm on the 11/18 Zuiderdam sailing - if you won big there - what were you playing?

I've never even heard rumors that ship slot machines were anywhere near loose! Occasionally someone will win a couple of hundred. I think I've seen where someone actually hit a royal once. But I'd not hold out to make my retirement fund on any ship's slot machines.

Me? I haven't won a dime. But then, I've never put one in onboard a ship. Living where I do, casinos simply don't appeal to me (much to the chagrin of the cruise lines!)

Really? That's wonderful. During the summer I go to The Atlantis - and I do okay in their casino. But really, I have never won anything on a ship. I walk in with my 50 or 100 and I play until it's gone - never do I get above what I walked in with. But I am a sucker, because I keep trying.

I did well on our last cruise. I stick to Blackjack and Craps; I've always seen slot machines as, well, a tax on the stupid. Alas, sometimes even I can't resist sticking twenty bucks into one.

My goal is to take enough out of the casino to cover my entire shipboard account by the end of the cruise, and I usually manage to do just that or at least close to it.

:o In 2002, on the Veedam, my mom won $1200 on a slot machine and 30 mins later I won $1000. We were shocked but happy. A year ago o the Oosterdam I won $800 again on slots. Now you just have to believe me when I say that I am the most unlucky person I knowSo, keep on trying and have fun. Sandi :o

Last year on the NCL Sun I won a 3,700.00 video poker progressive during the last sea day of our 11 day x-mas trip !

Up to that point my wife and I had both lost about 140.00 total.

It sure will be hard to beat that win ..

The worst part was they gave me a US Tax form LOL

You would have gotten more responses if the question was about who loses in the ship casino. There are a lot more of those folks.

Just remember Vegas was not build by all of the winners. :D

"win" is one word

"break even" is two words

"not break even" is three words

land or sea; smoking or non-smoking section; morning, afternoon or evening

same result

money usually transfers hands ..

wanna guess from which hand to which hand;)

answer: try the three words:eek:

As far as I know, shipboard casinos face no governmental scrutiny. They also have no competition. You can not switch casinos in midstream. I have some translations for you:

"I broke even" means "I lost."

"I didn't do too badly" means "I lost big."

"I won $500" means "I'm not telling how much it cost me to win $500."

"I won $500" means "I'm not telling how much it cost me to win $500."

You lost me on this one. Winning 500.00 means coming out 500.00 ahead. What do you mean by "how much it cost me" ?

I start with 50.00. I end up with 550.00. I won 500.00. :D

If...

Sunday you lost $100

Monday you lost $100

Tuesday you lost $200

Wednesday you lost $200

Thursday you were afraid to go to the casino, and

Friday you desperately try to win your money back, put a quarter in the slot machine and hit a $500 jackpot...

You have technically won (cashed in) $500, but overall lost $100.25.

For awhile the casino paid for the next cruise, and the most we have ever netted is $4,400.

My husband seems to always have great luck with Blackjack on ships. Everynight he gambles he gives me the chips that are over and above what he brought in with him and the rule is I never give them back to him. It is a rare night when we don't walk out with a lot more than we had when we went in. We always cash out and go straight the front desk and pay off/down our ship account. In our last 4 cruises we have covered our total ship bill and had more cash to carry off. On land he never has that kind of luck!!!

I think I am being misunderstood. I don't think like that, but I see what you are saying.

When I answered the question I took into account EVERYTHING.

My example was too simple.

I would never claim to win $ if OVERALL I came out minus what I started with.

At the end of the cruise, I was up 500.00. Whatever I lost during the week is subtracted out. :)

I mean that gamblers have a bad way of forgetting their losses, or forgetting to mention their losses. I agree with your accounting method. Not all gamblers are as honest.

How can that be you ask! Although the players in the final round never were told this, you have to have at least one chip remaining at the end of the final hand to win. There were only three players remaining at the last hand. They both bet all there chips and both lost all their chips. So I won the total pot of about $450.

Obviously, there was a lot of complaints from the two other players, which I agreed with, and even offered to share the pot, but they refused blaming the casino staff, not me.
