clever_girl Posted October 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2006 We have 2 adjacent verandah cabins on the Noordam. Is it possible to open the privacy partition between them so that we can share the balcony space? Is it a do-it-yourself thing, or does a crewmember have to open it for you? Thanks. jhannah Posted October 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2006 Grumpy1 is correct. The opening is just about 2' wide. Some folks are under the impression that you can open (as in remove) the partition and create one huge verandah. That isn't the case. But the opening is enough to walk back and forth through. Since your neighbors will have access to your verandah, just remember to close your curtains when you need to! ;)
Candy Posted October 21, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2006 It's a pretty skinny door... the panel hooked on the rail can be opened by your room steward. Candy the ZuiderPrincess
michmike Posted October 23, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2006 While the opening indeed is not huge, our experience last week on westerdam was that it made a BIG difference in the overall feel of the balcony, as it virtually doubled your field of vision from your own balcony. Our friends were able to bring their chairs over in the evening for our nightly attacks on a wine bottle and while cozy, there was room for 4 of us. You do need to be considerate enough not to wander over to the other side uninvited, as it is easy to forget to close your drapes. Now if we could just have done something about the ***hole who felt compelled to smoke at least 4 cigars a day (starting at 6:30 am) on his balcony a couple cabins forward and one deck down. user8 Posted October 23, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2006 I was with a group and we had four adjacent balconies open and it was great.
