coupon books

Recommended Posts

I don't know if every TA uses the same coupon book offer, but "worth $120" is more than stretching it a bit. Most of those coupons you won't even look at twice. The C & A book isn't "fabulous" at gold level, but you'll get more use out of that, I would predict.

Most of your TA's coupons will involve spending money to save a little money, like a 10% discount on a picture if you buy (one, two, three, whatever) pictures with it.

Del, was this two REAL one dollar coins, or ship's casino coins?

I had a feeling those kinds of coupon books were that way. Another question since this is my second cruise on Royal, what is the "commemorative gift"??

C&A members get coupon books in cabin, one per member; Also last cruise in March our TA gave out a different coupon book. Some coupons are the same type - I remember drink & a casino coupon in the TA book also, after that the TA book tends to go after higher value items such as spa services, picture frames, etc...

Commemorative gifts sounds like the gifts C&A members get on the cruise, got linen bags on the Radiance in March, but have heard of other items recently and often seems different ships, different items

What makes it a "commemorative" gift is that the name of your ship is on the item. We have multiple tote bags & hanging toiletry bags that are identical except for the name of the ship. (don't get me started on the oh-so-flattering fanny pack  )

Earlier this year the gift was a tote bag with the sip name embroidered. On the Enchantment in September it was a very nice leather picture frame. DW and I gave one our 2 to my DB and his wife (This was their first cruise.)

If you are traveling with kids, they can not joint C&A until they turn 18. They do sail at the same C&A level as parents, until they move out. They should each receive a C&A book and gift.

Nice thing too is once the kids get moved onto their own account, their parents' status stick with them, even if they haven't been on as many cruises as their parents. I know this because I am one of those kids that's at my parents' level since we were all on the same acct at one point long ago. :)

It's nice for you that you have that, but that's actually not the way that RCI has it set up. The way it's supposed to work is that when you move out on your own, you revert to whatever level you earned based on cruises you actually took. This is only fair because otherwise what you get is C&A levels being something that is "inherited" rather than earned. For example, you get married, and your spouse and children automatically get the level that you inherited from what your parents earned--while none of those in your household actually earned it.

They've been pretty lax with this rule, but I'm betting that they tighten it up as more and more people reach the higher levels. When pax have earned their status "the old fashioned way," they have a right to expect that they will be able to have access to the perks. The parties and lounges are already overcrowded and using inherited status dilutes the reason for having the perks in the first place.
