Yay - the docs arrived! So there's also a swim suit pageant...and they consider the Super Hero party the big event.. Also just one formal night for the Captain's dinner (Monday)...wonder if they are going to do the famous Princess champagne waterfall in the atrium. Oscars confirmed on Sunday night... Is it just me, but I don't remember porn stars being part of the official RSVP product offering? :) Coral dining room is reserved for singles on the anytime plan...which I guess means we are in the Palm...what about mixed groups?

 

And what to do with the lapel pins?

 

Mike - we got 6 baggage tags... they must know.

Well it just seems that every superhero costume is long sleeves/long pants, boots, gloves, etc.

 

Will many people go all out for this? And how long does it last? :D

 

I probably could handle sweating for about 2 hours! haha We have a couple great ideas in mind.

 

The shorts/t-shirt version would be modified versions of what the original costume looks like. I don't know how we would be able to even do that but just a thought.

 

Is anyone willing to share what they will be?? If so, what the costume looks like-- did you rent/buy?

Mike - FYI, tights come in a variety of styles, including "shorts", and tank top styles, or short sleeve tops.. pro wrestlers who want additional modesty wear short tights bottoms, and then a speedo over that...you could do some interesting contrasting colors...there are unitards of every variety too. A collegiate wrestler type unitard can work too, and they come in some bright colors...bike shorts are another suggestion (without the *ss padding)... Champion has all kinds of thermal/polypropolene "long underwear" options, which are long legged and sleeved, but I bet you could do some creative cutting....if you choose to go as an evil doer, you can do tighter black pants, t shirt, cape, face paint, boots... something like that. And I am sure we will see a lot of boots and speedos/thongs with creative arm bands or chest things... as well as one or three "wonder women".... do a little googling, and I think you can find something. I am scratching my head on this one, too...tights are not flattering :)

 

But don't stress out over it! :) You could go to every theme party in shorts and t shirt if you wanted and know one is going to point at you and say "look they didn't dress up". Many don't...it's just fun when people do.

Matt- same feeling here!!! haha Tights are NOT flattering!

 

I did wear some for Halloween thought with shorts over it. My friends thought it would be a good idea to go as fast food mascots. I was Ronald McDonald (red/white striped tights and all) and Gary was Colonel Sanders from KFC.

Mike, that's been my complaint about the super hero theme. The Caribbean is too warm and humid for long sleeve/pant tights of any kind, not to mention masks, gloves, boots, capes, etc. I too have been scratching my head what to wear and also thought of Wonder Woman, but a skinny Wonder Woman would not be pretty. On top of that all the costumes on line seem kind of pricey, especially for a one-time use. Of course I could make something up, but then people would be asking who I was suppose to be.

I am guessing this could be any type of superhero. Since I am not skinny or buff to pull it off-- what about Hercules or He-Man type?

Mike, let's just say my parents were ecstatic when I told them I was changing careers and heading to law school... the stories *are* better over drinks, but for many years I produced and directed videos of the more exotic variety... mostly, believe it or not, about wrestling and, yes, super heroes... but also some very mainstream stuff...

 

BTW, you two make a cute couple!

 

I had a fleeting thought of being the plus sized wonder woman, but the one and only time I did drag, I looked like someone's maiden aunt. I also don't like the idea of a wig in that humidity...it would be like wearing wool cap. So I am still very much scratching my head... I may take a ride over to the costume place I told Christopher about this week and see what they have..(Christopher I'll let you know if it's worth it.)

Still have not gotten my documents even though I signed up last year for this cruise. My TA called them to find out if the docs were being sent to her or to me direct. RSVP said they did not know. This is a far cry from the way RSVP use to respond to questions. I am so pro RSVP as compared to Atlantis mainly because of how the business side is managed. I wonder if as RSVP tries to grow rapidly and regain their dominance, will things be handled differently.

Then there is your comment about porn stars. This was the one thing that stumped me on the Mexico cruise in October. They had a porn star onboard for meet, photo op, signature meeting. I thought this was soooo not RSVP.....and where was it held...in the chapel.......This was something I would expect from Atlantis...not RSVP. So it seems to me that RSVP is changing as most things do.......

If it is to entice future cruisers, it makes me wonder how much more deversified their offerings will become. I still cant figure out the porno thing...which could turn future potential clients off if it reinforces the circuit party ,floating bath house idea some people think the cruises are...and are not.

New owner, keep the company a class act.

On a lighter note.....any comments about boarding time? I figure I will show up at the peir by 10:30 just to see the prior passengers get into busses.....too anxious to wait to board...who me?

I can recall a cruise in the late 90's when RSVP had Playgirl's "Man of the Year" onboard. He showed a documentary he had produced and spoke briefly. It was held in one of the lounges. I'll admit, it was an interesting story he had to tell. So, porn is nothing new to RSVP. Floating bath house? You must have forgotten, RSVP used to supply condoms and lube.

I appreciate you digging for us. That's mostly the same list that is on the paperwork we received the other day except for Sister Helen. I'm not complaining (much) but I was hoping for some heavy hitters like the Mexican cruise had. A big name comic like Suzanne Westenhoffer or a diva like Deborah Cox. But I am greatful for the entertainers we have and I'm sure I will enjoy them.

 

Porn stars? Might be fun for about five minutes just to say you met them but I'd trade them for a Kathy Griffin or a Xtina anyday.
